Free Music Notes for Live in AnguillaFree Music Review: Delayed Buying This One Hit: 5 Stars
A confirmed Parrothead, I'll admit I delayed buying this one out of ignorance: I didn't realize there was a DVD included until I was in the supermarket the other day and it was playing on a big flat-screen television. I immediately ordered it from Amazon and watched the entire DVD start to finish the evening after it arrived in my mailbox.
I'm a sailor. I've bareboat chartered in the Caribbean. There's salt water in my veins. I'm from Florida. I'd give up a couple years of my life to be in Jimmy's skin for a couple months. I've read all his books. This compilation is a "must have" if you like well engineered CD's in a fantastic setting. Forget the old songs...they're all classics, just like Mr. Buffett. Enjoy them, the fantastic shots of water and boats, and the obvious joy of the people who had the great fortune of being able to attend this "festival"...."concert" is too stuffy a term for this. Jimmy in shorts, t-shirt, flip flops (which he gives away to two women in the crowd at the end of the event, one who can be clearly seen mouthing, "OH, MY GOD!!!", is at his best.
My favorite part is the clever transition from a song being sung on the beach to the stage performance. Get the DVD and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Free Music Review: Whata heck of a beach 5 Stars
If you're not into Jimmy Buffett then I suppose it's hard to explain. He just makes folks feel good. The music is catchy, and most of it 's been heard before. Though there are a few new or less recorded tunes here. But Jimmy to so darn likeable and the ingratiating way the program is delivered, it makse you just want to pull on your tee shirt and flip flops and head for the beach. As usual his backup is first rate.
The DVD is great. Would've given a month's pay to have been there. Probably about what it would have cost, but would have felt it money well spent. Jimmy's touring a bit less so have to get your fix via the wonders of electronic recording. But what the heck, the seats are better than being there, though mixing with the crowd would've been fun. Jimmy's crowds are nothing, if not fun.
If your not a fan yet, take this out for a test drive and see if you don't become one. And if you are, how can you pass a double CD and full DVD for this price. Like getting two for the price of one without any cut in quality.
Thanks, Jimmy, from those of us who are heading into the cooler months, for something to keep us warm till spring.
Free Music Review: A must-buy for all Parrotheads Hit: 5 Stars
Like many of the other reviewers here, I'm a longtime Parrothead and have been to many, many shows, read all the books, and own most all the cds/tapes/mp3/albums. To me, this cd ranks right up with "You had to be there". I've often said "wouldn't it be great to see JB with a small band" and this is likely as close as I'll get. Plain and simple, the cd is awesome. On most of the songs, Jimmy sings them as close to the original recordings as I've heard him do (Jimmy is well known for mixing song versions up). There are some real gems on there, too - "Treat her like a Lady", "Distantly in Love", and the new "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere". As far as the remakes and guests go, I wasn't blown away by the versions of the Beach Boy's "In my room" or CSN's "Southern Cross", but was very impressed with "Brown Eyed Girl" (a song I thought I was tired of hearing!) and "Stuck in Paradise" with Bankie Banx. While the cd itself is worth the price, the dvd is icing on the cake. It ranks right up with "Live by the Bay".
So go mix yourself a blender full of margaritas, quit reading reviews, and order the cd/dvd already!
Free Music Review: Awesome! Hit: 5 Stars
I have been a Buffett fan for 25 years. I have all of the CD's, DVD's, and albums (for those of you that remember albums). I have been to see Jimmy's concert every single year for 24 years in a row. I have also met him a few times. If you know how to look around, he is very accessible.
Anyway, my dream has always been to see him perform in a small venue - even in an accoustic setting. This DVD comes as close as any of us will ever get to that. It starts out on a beach with about fifty people in attendance and then transforms into the "concert" in the middle of "One Particular Harbor".
Even the concent is very small and intimate. On a beach with minimal staging and sets. It is not the arena shows we are all used to. The sound and renditions of the songs are amazing. The setting will inspire you to move your family to the islands.
I got this for Christmas and have been watching it for two days. If you are a Buffett fan, this is the best concert DVD he's ever released. Get it.

I was checking my email when I saw the Amazon message asking if I'd write a review about Live In Anguilla. Yes, I understand that they're not asking me because of my ginormously famous reviewing skills. I understand it is a computer generated quiry.
I have all of Buffett's stuff... cd's, dvd's, t-shirts... I'm a hard-nosed parrothead. I even live on an Island in the Gulf... all because of Bubba.
As I was reading the email, the email asking me to write a review, I thought, Yeah, i will do it. Because I love this dvd (and two cd's that accompany). Because it is the first dvd that really shows JB in his element... and Jesus, it is beautiful. Finally, the life you've been living vicariously thru the master is visible. And, because it is just starting on my dvd player... right now.
Gotta go.
Buy it.
