Free Music Review: Jimmy does it again

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band spend their time in the US promulgating the fantasy of spending time on a beach with cool, green water, soft breezes, and of course that wonderful music. Here, the fantasy is turned on its head, with Jimmy and the band parforming on the beautiful beaches of Anguilla. He's in fine voice, and it's a wonderful song list. The CD is mixed a little better than the DVD, but both are worth it all the way.Free Music Review: Gulf & Western goes Dolby Digital 5.1; 16:9 Widescreen!

Gulf & Western goes Dolby Digital 5.1; 16:9 Widescreen! PCM is the default, so be sure to select Dolby Digital 5.1 during setup.
DVD may be recorded in HD, but that doesn't make it an HD-DVD. Nevertheless, it's close; especially when upconverted to 1080p by my Toshiba HD-A30 HD DVD player & sent to my 56" Panasonic 1080p HDTV.
Free Music Review: One of the better Buffett live albums

This is one of my favorite live compilations Buffett has released recently. While there isn't much new material on these discs, the versions here are well done and very listenable. The DVD, on the other hand, is far superior, I think, to the Live at Fenway disc released a few years ago. Maybe it's just me, but I was wishing I could have been in Anguilla the whole time I watched Jimmy's set. Overall, a very worthwhile buy.Free Music Review: Great CD/DVD!

Jimmy and the band are in top form here, the crowd is lively, and the island is gorgeous. Includes most of Buffett's classics, as well as some lesser known gems (my favorite of which is the wonderful "Distantly in Love"). Also outstanding is the rollicking version (the best I've heard) of "One Particular Harbour", and Jimmy's duet with Anguillan reggae star Bankie Banx on "Still in Paradise". This is my second copy of JB's live in Anguilla. Somehow the DVD from the first set got damanged and my husband was freaking out. I ordered another new set and it was here before I knew it and in perfect condition! We are boaters and we listen to these CD's all summer on the water and we watch the concert about every other month the rest of the year. W never get tired of it. I think it is definitely his best!
