Free Music Review: "Hawaii" is Excellent (But "Key West" is Even Better)

I disagree with critics on this page who say this fith live album is a ripoff. Yes the song list is almost identical on each of them but the song titles are listed quite clearly on the cd and here on Amazon, so if you didn't want to hear different versions of the same songs then you shouldn't have bought the cd. As for myself, being a Parrothead is like being an alcoholic or a compulsive gambler. You can never get enough. So I enjoyed this as much as I've enjoyed the rest of the live cd packages. I actually think this is the best of them. Jimmy seems to have alot more energy on this one.
I do agree with the critics who say that "Roadkill" Bill Jabanoski's "Key West, Florida ..Island Of Dreams" is the far superior album if your only going to buy one. Although Jabanoski's style is completely different then Jimmy's, he reminds you of the more wreckless and wild Jimmy from back in the seventies and his songs are as good as anything on "A1A" or "Changes In Latitudes" and that's a major compliment coming from a phanatic Parrothead like me. My advice to anyone is to buy both.

Now that spring is at long last here, here's my Perfect Recipe for my weekend Bar-B-Qs,
1. Mix five full blenders of Margaritas. Put a couple of cases of beer in an ice bucket.
2. Fire up the grill with lots of meat ready to sizzle.
3. If you've got a five CD disc changer that does "random play" like mine does, get the speakers outside and put on

2. The second disc of this CD
3. Jabanoski's "Key West Party CD"
4. Jabanoski's "Key West/Island Of Dreams"
5. "Key West Liz" O'Connors "Legacy of Love"
and REPEAT AS NECESSARY!
You and your friends will be in the tropics all day and night even if you are in Maryland like us or some other place where palm trees don't grow.
I've read alot of the reviews of this CD and eveyone seems to take it all so seriously. I get enough seriousness at work Monday thru Friday. What ever happened to just having FUN with great music made by great musicians?
Free Music Review: Best Live Album In Years

Jimmy Buffett flooded the market with recordings from the 2004 Tiki Time Tour - there's about 5 or 6 "Live in..." CD sets out there all with very similar set lists and performance style. However, Live In Hawaii is easily the best of the bunch. For starters, the performances from that tour all had a distinctive "tiki bar" flair to them, and Jimmy referenced how he was ending the tour in Hawaii on nearly every other recording. So when they finally perform in Honolulu and Maui, there's a noticeable surge in energy and excitement from the band. Throw in a few guest performances by the legendary Henry Kapono, and you've got yourself quite a concert CD.
If there is any fault, it's that the bonus DVD is only about 15 minutes long. It does give you an idea of what the Tiki Time Tour looked like on stage, which was slightly different than other Buffett tours, but I would have at least liked to have seen one whole set on video. But the CDs are so good, I can't complain.

To me this is my favorite Jimmy Buffett live CD. It really captures the excitement and fun of a Jimmy Buffett concert!!! From start to finsih this CD is excellent and a lot of fun to listen to!!! If I'm in a bad mood, I pop this CD in the player and I'm instantly transported to the islands and the stress dissapears. I don't know what the previous reviewers are listening to, this is a fun CD to listen to. And the DVD is excellent, I wish JB would release the complete show on DVD, the quality of the DVD is awesome. So Jimmy if you read these reviews, please consider releasing this on DVD for a full concert. This CD hasn't left my car since I bought it, I've listened to it everyday since I bought it!!!! Thanks Jimmy, now if you could just bring your show to Oklahoma City sometime so we can have a little bit of paradise in the flat lands. We have a great outdoor venue called the Zoo CD!!!!!!!!!Free Music Review: Definitely the best live CD of the Tikki Time Tour

This live set is the best of the many released soundboard recording from the Tikki Time Tour. The set list is probably the most interesting and Jimmy and the Coral Reefers sound like they are having a great time in Hawaii. The negative reviewers concentrate on the sound quality, but you have to remember this is recorded from the soundboard. If you want a perfect sounding live disc from Buffett then pick up one of his three other discs, particulary "Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays" which is my favorite. Like that disc, Live in Hawaii is a fun listen, even with the imperfections. I was disappointed that the DVD wasn't longer, but I considered it a bonus anyway. The other complaint is that Jimmy released several live sets form the same tour. Hey, no one said you had to buy everything Jimmy releases. So, if you haven't bought any Tikki Time Tour discs yet then just buy Live in Hawaii.
