Free Music Notes for Off to See the Lizard

Free Music Review: A pretty terrible release
Hit: 2 Stars

OK, there are folks out there who say this album has all sorts of deep value. I am not one of those people. If Hot Water was Jimmy's rock album, this was his pop album ... and it's simply bad. The writing is weak, the songs are uninspired. The album is a tough listen. "Take Another Road" and "Pascagoula Run" are OK, but certainly not Jimmy's best. I'll take "Lone Palm" off of Fruitcakes or "That's What Living Is To Me" off of Hot Water before I take any of these tracks. And to all those who think this album was so great, I ask you: Why didn't any of these tracks appear live on Feeding Frenzy or Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays? Because there are very few people that liked this album. Hell, it killed Marvin Gardens!

Free Music Review: The last great album...
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a great release! Forget almost all the new stuff you heard in the 90s. Lizard has both great music and great lyrics and is generally forgotten between the old Buffett and the new Buffett. A real shame too because this is Jimmy right before he went commercial. Savor it...

Free Music Review: his best in the 80's
Hit: 5 Stars

This has to be JB's best album in the 80's. I would still rather listen to this one than Fruitcakes,Banana Wind, etc. Take Another Road and I Wish Lunch Could Last Forever are among my alltime Buffett favorites. I highly recommend this CD.

Free Music Review: a gem from the 80's!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one of the very few records form the 80's that I love. It has his carribean flavor adn catchy melodies in such songs as "Off to See the Lizard" and his moving ballads like "Changing Channels". I strongly recommend this cd! It has much more meaning once you read "Tales form Margaritaville", which is a great book by it's self.

Free Music Review: Great tunes, one of my favorites
Hit: 5 Stars

While this isn't my absolute favorite Buffett album, it is one I listen to over and over and over... you get the point. The title track and Thats my story are both very fun, and one of my favorite Buffett ballads - I wish lunch could last forever make this album a standout. I would also like to qualify my opening statement - a good Buffett album is great by any other standard!
