Free Music Review: Stop. Not Led Zeppelin. Don't castaway bacause of that!
Hit: 5 Stars

I waited very long for new Led Zeppelin. And, guess what, the closest thing came on my birthday (April 21st)! This album is clearly not Led Zeppelin, and there are a few forgetable tracks. It seams almost like 12 songs was too much; it could do without a few. But either way, this album is still great, and it is different, once again seperating Jimmy Page and Robert Plant from their many imitators. Different blues and rock styles are shown from the No Quarter-like "Most High" to the whiny "When the World Was Young." Great guitar riffs are aplenty ("Please Read the Letter," "Walking into Clarkesdale"), and there is something here for everything. It's an R&R roller coaster; from acuistic "Shining in the Light" to the polished, hard, heavy metal "Burning Up." My only problems with this album are that I would like another memorable solo from Page, the drums seam to be recorded differently, as if Jimmy wasn't creatively placing them as he used to, and I personally don't like "Heart In Your Hand" or "Upon a Golden Horse." If you like Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, rock and roll, heavy metal, or anything that is different, this is a great album. The masters deliver again, although unexpectadly so and in different forms....

Free Music Review: Warning! Listener must give it time and patience!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm 20 years old and have been an admitidly obsessive Zeppelin fan since I was 12. So, of course I bought this album immediately when it was released almost exactly a year ago. The first time through I listened to bits of all the songs and was pretty let down. Except for a few songs, nothing caught my ears. It wasn't til a few weeks after I bought that I listened to the whole album at once. As days went by I found myself loving this album more and more. I do admit that the recording isn't as good as it should've been. When I listen to it I have readjust my stereo, be it at home or in the car. And for all those who think that Jimmy and Robert have lost it, go to or listen to a concert. I attended a show this summer with five other friends, none of whom were exactly big Zeppelin fans. When we left the arena after 2 hours of Page/Plant we all were spent. One of us made the comment that we each looked like we had just finished having 2 hours of sex! They were really that great. Everyone said they were better than any other acts they had seen including Metallica and Smashing Pumpkins. To sum things up, this is really a wonderful album. Just give it a chance and be patient. It isn't Zeppelin, but it is without a doubt the next best thing.

Free Music Review: Breathtaking
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a huge fan of Led Zeppelin, but I almost enjoy listening to this album straight through more than listening to most Zep albums straight through. I bought WIC a few days after it came out, with pretty high expectations. I listened to it once and thought "very good, but not great." After a few more listens, I thought it was great and still do. I listened to this album more in the first couple of weeks after buying it than I have ever listened to any other album right after buying it. "Most High" is a perfect song in the "Kashmir" tradition, "Blue Train" is ideal for a melancholy mood and a rainy day, "Heart In Your Hand" is one of the most beautifully sensuous songs I have ever heard, and "Shining in the Light," for some reason I can't explain, almost moves me to tears. Those are the highlights, but although some songs are considerably better than others there really isn't a weak one on the CD. Robert Plant and Jimmy Page were geniuses when they were in Led Zeppelin and they are still geniuses. Get this one.

Free Music Review: Crunchy on the outside...but start with the inside
Hit: 5 Stars

The heart of Walking Into Clarksdale is--appropriately--in the center of the record, tracks 5 - 9. How would Led Zeppelin sound today if they were still together? Probably not even as good as these 5 tracks, each one a testament to the creative talents of Page and Plant. "Please Read the Letter" cruises confidently into the Eastern-influenced "Most High," two tracks that extend the barriers of what Zeppelin WAS. "Heart in Your Hand" ventures into a dark territory that makes me want to light a cigarette (I don't smoke). "Walking Into Clarksdale" and "Burning Up" swagger and crash with the best of Zeppelin's stuff. (I'd say "Walking..." could have fit on Physical Graffitti.) How are Page/Plant doing? They rock, bigger and better and with more confident control than ever. They're masters of the craft. This disc deserves to be a rock classic....The rest of it is very good, but it's almost too much to take in all at once. Just buy it and start with the 5 center tracks, and it all makes sense.

Free Music Review: The song remains the same...
Hit: 5 Stars

Two guys older than my parents still rocking harder than anyone!!! Jimmy Page, still the master of light and shade, is brilliant and always getting better. Robert Plant's vocals aren't quite Zeppelin-esque, but it doesn't detract from this album. Michael Lee and Charlie Jones are, to quote Plant during a recent show I attended, "the best rhythm section in showbiz,". Every song is an adventure into the pure talent of their musical genius. I am only 21, not born in time to see Led Zeppelin, but after this album, and seeing them play 4 time since 1995, I can imagine what it was like. "Most High" is a Kashmir-like track, while "Shining in the Light" reminds me of "Ramble On". This album isn't featuring just one standout song, but is a collection of very good, solid rock songs written by two legends. Being the huge fan of Page and Plant I am, I can't give "Walking Into Clarksdale" anything less than 5 stars, and I have to recommend you to go see them when they roll through your town.
