Free Music Notes for Walking Into ClarksdaleFree Music Review: Awesome... Hit: 5 Stars
Some music just grabs you by the b**ls and doesn't let go. This is one of those. Just ten years ago, Page/Plant came up with an album that not only rocks, but excites your senses. It is one of the most compelling LP's I've heard since early Zep from these guys. And the backing band (drums/bass) are well picked out and complement the music perfectly. This will go down as one of my favorite "newer" albums of all time. Newer, as in not 70's/80's rock, but done with a style and class not found in many of today's acts. Robert Plant has kind of stepped into the void left by premier songwriting talent that used to be Phil Collins. Look at the diversity of work he's done with Allison Kraus...Bravo gentlemen!
Free Music Review: Pleasantly Surprised Hit: 5 Stars
They're Zeppelin...after a classic Jersey show, I figured I at least owed their album a shot. Expecting not to enjoy more than a few songs, I was instantly blown away by "When the World Was Young." While it wasn't a 'rip it up' solo by Page, he somehow made the guitar moan in agony in a way few others could. The album itself seems to be a mix between old school and new school, with the opening to "Upon a Golden Horse" clearly taking it back to the days, while still experimenting with the eastern sound on "Most High." For this 23 year old who couldn't follow Zep's every move in the 70's, this cd gives me a great look into what it must have been like. And I like it.
Free Music Review: Another Step Forward....... Hit: 5 Stars
The continued popularity of Led Zeppelin has amused Page & Plant (particularly Plant) for some time. While still delving into the archives for their live performances, this cd shows that they haven't lost the gift of writing a good song. Page appears happy in the background, still showing his talent but allowing Plant's vocals to dominate on most tracks. The single Most High will be known to most fans, while the preceding track Please Read The Letter and the title track also stand out. This cd may sound a little laid back on the first hearing, but is a must for P/P fans and shows that these two have nothing to prove.
Free Music Review: very underrated Hit: 5 Stars
This is the last Led Zeppelin album. The songs grow on you with time and are all really great. Almost a decade after I bought this album I still love listening to it. i wish I could have heard these songs live. Zeppelin should get back together because life is too short and rock n' roll needs them as well as other classic rock bands. I hear rumors of a new album somewhere down the road, and if that's going to happen I hope they'd really do it right and make some bold social statements and offend a lot of people. These days, a lot of people need to be awakened from their spiritual slumbers.
Free Music Review: A great album proves these two veterans have "still got it" Hit: 5 Stars
To put it briefly, this album is great! The reason I bought it was because I was going to see them in concert last summer. Well, since most of the songs played in concert were Zep songs, buying the album wasn't necessary, but I am sure glad I did! All of the songs are great, and range from slow to upbeat, and soft to heavy (although the overall feeling of the album is on the lighter side). Oh, and one other thing, to those who think Plant's voice has weakened since his Led Zeppelin days, you are wrong, because all the Zep songs in concert sounded like "good old Robert!"
