Free Music Review: Lots of jazz for very little cash

Great value in this 4 CD set, close to 4 hours of music. Jimmy Raney is an awesome jazz guitarist. Sure, the liner notes could be more descriptive and the CD audio could use a re-mastering, but this is a lot of music for very little cash. I paid 10.98 for this jam-packed set, so I've got nothing to complain about. The CD's cover 1949 to 1955, a period of jazz that I love. It was a pleasant surprise to hear Blossom Dearie on two of the tracks in disc 1. Red Norvo is prominently featured in disc 1 to 3--you know, I used to hate vibes in any jazz song until I heard Red Norvo, the man is a speed demon. Stan Getz and Al Haig in disc 1 are a real treat. Awesome set, hurray for the Quadromania jazz series!
