Free Music Review: Joan Jett

I have been a die hard fan since the 80's. It took me a little while, but I love it.

Joan Jett had not released an official world wide release album in about 12 years. There had been a couple of unofficial releases over the years but they only came out in Japan (Naked and Fetish which was actually more of a collection of her more sexualized songs).

Her new album Sinner sees her re-releasing/re-recording some of the tracks off of Naked as well as some of the new cuts off of Fetish in addition to some new material.

How does it stack up?

Pretty good actually. While the album doesn't quite hold up quite as well as a lot of her classic 80's material, for the most part, this release sees Joan venturing forth with her trademark sound, tough (and sexy) vocals, sexually ambiguous lyrics and kicking guitar work. Considering that she's not 48 years old, it literally sounds like she hasn't aged at all.

Her backing band sounds great as well. The production is crystal clear and everything has a really nice rocking bite to it.

While some hardcore fans might be upset that they already have some of these songs already from Naked and Fetish, for the more casual fan like myself, this album is a really enjoyable listen.

There are only about 2 or 3 cuts that are a bit fillerish, but overall, this is just a great no-nonsense rock album like a lot of people don't make anymore. While this album doesn't really advance her sound any, it still shows her doing what she does best when she really puts her mind/heart to it.

I recommend getting this and her greatest hits CD Fit to be Tied and that'll be pretty much all the Joan Jett that you'll need.

Hopefully she won't take 12 years to come out with another release. Sinner shows that this sexy woman still has quite a lot to say.

Free Music Review: Jett Rocker Soul Talker
Hit: 4 Stars

God i love this woman.
She's been rockin' since 1975 and sinner just might be her best work.
Jett is simply inspired and on fire on this platter of rock n' roll nirvana dishing
out the goods with heart crushing soul and rock n' roll gold.
Jett effectively balances a combination of rough and tender and the results are simply
electrifying.
"Watersign" captures jett at her most delicate and sensitive with soft and sensual delivery of
the lyrics basking on a bed of dreamy erotic musical landscape.
Jett then turns around and bashes your skull with leather laced fist power as heard in the
sexual bombastic thrust of "fetish".
There's also those signature chuck berry riff inspired rockers like "acdc" with handclaps and
rip roaring bravado seaping from first note to last.
Jett is simply in the zone and rockin' like nobody's business here.
Other highlights are "five" which rocks like a ton of bricks, "100 feet away" with it's infectious singalong
chorus and it's rockin' struttin' groove, and jetts footloose and fancy free cover of the replacements "androdgynous".
I'm telling you that if you love rock n' roll with edge and fun then you're gonna dig sinner.
jett makes it all so good with her honesty and rock n'roll passion that is so rare today making her the treasure
that she has always been.
