Free Music Notes for The Milk-Eyed Mender
Free Music Review: A very polarizing voice.

Alright, before I say anything, I ought to tell you that you're either going to love this album or hate it. I can't tell you why; most peoples reasons for loving it are the same reasons people hate it. I can tell you right now, you're never going to hear a voice like Ms. Newsom's again. Her vocals sporadically switch from those of a young child to that of an old woman. People like me think that this gives it a raw, emotional, beautiful result, but people who don't feel that it's just too bizarre. A friend of mine calls it my "witch music", and I can see his point. If you can't get past the oft-off-key, sometimes shriek-y voice, then there's no point in buying. I suggest listening to clips before buying, and if you liked this album, try her second one, Ys. It's just as good as Milk-Eyed Mender, if not better in some respects.
