Free Music Notes for Sloe GinFree Music Review: Great Album! Joe is Awesome Hit: 5 StarsJoe B is a living legend. This album shows his maturity but also continues his strive for perfection of his music. A true blues rock original!
Free Music Review: As smooth as the drink that the album is named after! Hit: 5 StarsAs soon as the first few bars are sounded you can tell that this is going to be a 'quality' album and it doesn't disappoint.
Sloe Gin has been released quite quickly after his last album so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Would it appear rushed?
Not a chance. This is another smokin' album with a mixture of blues, rock and ballads.
The title track alone is worth buying the album for. It conjures up a smokey (pre ban!) blues club at three in the morning although the police siren halfway through made me look around as I was going over 70 mph on the motorway and thought that I had been caught for speeding.
Congratulations to Joe for pulling another great album out of the bag.
If you can go and see him in concert before he gets to big to appear in the smaller venues like The Bordeline Club. Well worth it.
Free Music Review: Great tone, soulful singing ! Hit: 5 StarsAnyone following Joe's career knows the guy can play - Burnin' Hell, Pain and Sorrow , etc....
This CD is a nice step out of the wailin' blues rock thing. Joe's tone is great throughout and this is his most expressive singing to date.
Just buy it !!!!!!!!
Free Music Review: many varied opinions Hit: 5 Starsreading all the reviews here there are people who love Sloe Gin and those who feel that Joe has foresaken his fired up electricfying blues. I am one who favors the latter, love my blues blistering and rocking, and was worried that the new JB release was going to disappoint.I was pleasantly suprised at how much I enjoy the cd.If you only want theSRV/hendrix brand of music then I could see this might not be totally for you. This album offers up a nice mixture of blues influenced material. The guitar is still ther as always, its just framed in a different light. acoustic guitar, strings ,keyboards, are all added as textures that Joe can play off of.This isnt an in your face blast of guitar{which most of us avid fans are used to].I personally think there are great songs that dont all sound as if they are from the same cookie cutter here.I cannot see how any fan of his music cant really get into most of the tracks here,Ball Peen Hammer,One of these Days, dirt in my pocket,Another kind of love, black night, jelly roll,Sloe Gin, all have the Joe we all love right there.tracks like seagull ,richmond ,around the bend may be softer, but many hard rokin bands offer a little change of pace in there works,so whats all the fuss about,Sloe Gin gets my 5 star rating hands down.
Free Music Review: Sloe Gin Hit: 5 StarsI have never bothered to write a review before however, I must defend this great collection of songs and disagree with the other reviews of this CD. I realize it is not a true heavy blues sound that we have come to expect from Joe , but that is not what it was intended to be. Don't expect a musical genius like Bonamassa to stay in the little box that people tend to place musicians in. This CD gets my vote as #1 over anything else released in 2007.
