"Night And Day" was Joe's crossover into a more melodic, keyboard driven sound. The hit single, "Steppin Out," envelops your senses like an evening ride on the Lexington Avenue Subway. "Steppin' Out," with its mantric bass line, grew on me like no other song. 1982 was a great year for music, and in no place is this more present than in "Night And Day," an album which emphasizes professionalism and songwriting over wasted flash. Any New Yorker who appreciates the light synthesized sound of the early 1980s must own "Night and Day."
