Free Music Notes for I'm Gonna Be Dead SomedayFree Music Review: OUTRAGEOUS AND FUNNY! Hit: 5 Stars
I love listening to stand-up comedians, both dirty and clean. I picked up Joe Rogan's album, not knowing what I would be in for. This is a really funny album.A word of warning: Joe Rogan is as dirty as they come. He uses very strong language and his humor is based around strong sexual content. If you don't like any of that, DO NOT GET THIS CD. If you like that stuff, GET THIS ALBUM! The material is so off the hook and outrageous, I can't even begin to describe what he talks about, for fear of being censored yet again in a review. So I'll try to be very careful. His comedy revolves around relationships, male bonding, ladies night, not homophobic but afraid of something that starts with a "C" and ends in a "K," and yes, sex, sex, and more sex. And then some more sex. And so on and so on. This isn't the funniest album I've ever heard, but it is very entertaining and hillarious. Will you like it? Maybe. It's worth a try. Just listen to a few tracks if you can before purchasing. (Always the smart thing to do.) Joe Rogan is a very funny comedian, and I hope he puts out some more CDs in the future.
Free Music Review: Not "just for men" ... Hit: 5 Stars
I actually purchased this cd and his "Belly of the Beast" DVD a few years ago. But I just re-listened to all of it again because I needed a hearty laugh. This does the trick every time!
I wanted to add my two cents here because I don't think his humor can solely be enjoyed by men. I'm a woman and I think he's hilarious. Yeah, he's crass and vulgar--so what? That's exactly what makes him so good. He's real. I think the best comedians are those with the ability to turn their insides out and give us the rawest, most eye-opening picture of who they are and how they see the world. Done and done.
And even if you don't believe everything he believes, you'd be remiss not to realize that he's a clearly a smart cookie. He's not just throwing out BS on topics he knows nothing about. If nothing else, you've got to respect that. Not to mention his obvious talent in the delivery of his jokes--can't wait until I can see his act in person.
The bottomline is that if you don't laugh, maybe it's time to check for your pulse.
Free Music Review: Powerful, refreshing and original Hit: 5 Stars
Yes, there is a lot of swearing - my wife was horrified. However, Rogan does not use vulgar language to disguise weak writing. He does not need to do that. Writing is very good. It must be noted that the recording evening also felt particularly good for the performer - you can feel electricity and response of the audience. It is amazing how Rogan sustains excellent rhytm and flawless delivery for prolonged periods. He reminded me of Lewis Black - and his mastery of intonation is outstanding. "Ladies' Night Out" is a masterpiece, and so is "Anna Nicole Smith/How To Die". Opening dialogue is a bit rough for finer tastes but still makes for a captivating listening. He will be probably not the favourite of those who long for a comedian to deliver "social commentary", which is an euphemism for denouncing Ronald Reagan every thirty seconds. For all others, Rogan will be a revelation.
Free Music Review: Could not Stop Laughing!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Joe Rogan pulls no punches in his CD recorded live from Houston. The News Radio, and Fear Factor alumni comes off with fantastic routines ranging from Girls Night out at the Strip Club, the antics of the younger more sexually adventurous crowds of L.A. and his description of Tonya Harding as the Real American Olympiad. One of the funnier tracks aside from Girl's Nite Out is the track detailing the freak show that was and is Anna Nicole Smith and her marriage to Texas bazillionaire J. Howard Marshall. His routines are well thought out, and the CD just rolls right along. This is one guy i must try to see live!!!!!! Buy this CD but be warned Joe's language, and monologue is peppered with adult language, and situations. Still thought it was funny as hell!!!
Free Music Review: Funnier than Schimmel could ever be Hit: 5 Stars
Besides Bill Hicks, this is the funniest comedy CD I have ever owned. Here's my first question: If Joe Rogan can be this funny on CD, how come he has made such horrible career decisions: Newsradio (funny, but not Joe's role), Fear Factor (he constantly appears to be smirking).About the CD: The Anna Nicole Smith track may be the funniest thing I have ever heard. Also, Getting Pumped is so funny you may cry. Overall, this CD is one of the top three comedy CDs I own. Long live Joe the standup comedian. A final word of warning: To say this CD has explicit lyrics may be the world's biggest understatement. Parents be warned: Not for the ears of children.
