Free Music Notes for Professor Satchafunkilus & Musterion of RockFree Music Review: It is close to Crystal Planet Hit: 5 Stars
I have read all the reviews and believe with Satch his music is a different experience for all. I have everything except maybe some strange expensive imports. I have really listened to this extensively before giving a review. I do not have the one song from itunes so just for the 10 songs the best to me is Andalusia. Following that would be almost every song just a small amount less as incredible than Andalusia.
Personally it his best he has put out since Crystal Planet. There are many reviews which say dislikes about I Just Wanna Rock and that is baffling the song is a very good song with a sizzling solo. I wish I could understand why people think it is not up to par b/c I believe this purchase is a great Satch buy with a big variety to choose and to lead up to Andalusia, Asik Vaysel works perfect. I think Joe can play so well and fluid that it is hard to reconize how difficult or intricte his playing is to accomplish. Coming from 20 years of listening and enjoying Satch this disc is up there at the top.
Free Music Review: It's Just Joe? Hit: 5 Stars
My dad introduced me to the sounds of Joe Satriani back in 86'. My first album was Surfing With The Alien. At the time, my dad went in and asked an associate in a local Atlanta store,"who is the guy right now?" Joe is still the guy. My favs on the current album are tracks 1, 3, 9, & 10. Music is supposed to be a great many things. Joe seems to know this. There is always growth on a Satch album. There is also just great music. Growth - growth for Joe - on this album: voice box on "I Just Wanna Rock", opening rythm and percussion on Aysik Vasel, opening spanish guitar on Andalusia. Further experimentation on "Musterion" comes from "Searching" off the album "Is There Love In Space". He uses piano/organ a bit more.
Could he do more with rythm and percussion?... maybe. There are people out there who already do. If that is what you want go get them. When or if Joe does that, it will be well worth listening to. In the meantime, pick up this album. It will so (5 stars) not disappoint.
Free Music Review: Refreshing new stuff Hit: 5 Stars
I have all of Joe's CDs, the first I heard was "Surfing", then "Crystal Planet", and loved them all but after a while the vibe started to get repetitive somewhat for me with his last couple releases. Till now! I listened to the new CD twice so far, and though a couple of the songs, including the chant song "I just wanna rock" were really not my favorites, I must admit they were still unique and interesting. This new CD to me is a bit different than what he has done before, and that is exactly what I was hoping for with this release. Seems that he is applying the "less is more" approach to several of the songs, which made them excellent and pleasant to listen to especially while cruising around. He seems to play
for the songs, and not just a bunch of notes to show off his amazing abilities that we already know he has anyway. I don't remember really hearing piano on much of his stuff before, and it works great here!. I very much recommend this CD.
Free Music Review: Wonderful Hit: 5 Stars
I'm actually saddened to see anything in the way of the disappointment of others in reference to this album.
This immediately became one of my favorites at first listen.
I really feel Joe put aside his expectancy of others and just let his inspiration flow for this one.
I was never at any point bored or waiting to get through a song to hear what the next track might offer as I have been in a couple previous albums.
Music is a language of the soul, you either understand it or you don't, you either connect with it or you don't.
There was reference made in comparison to earlier albums that for myself I could not agree with. The compared albums I didn't connect with as I did this one. This album is a language I understand and an inspiration of "soul groove" for me.
"Thank you Joe" Rock Music Review: THE MASTER Hit: 5 Stars
What's not to love about Satch. He's such a visionary, far beyond anyone else doing what he is. A guitarist for guitarists and more!! I have bought every album and dvd he has put out and have yet to get one that didn't make my jaw drop. His technique is flawless. His chord progressions flow seamlessly together while maintaining proper balance throught every song. This can be difficult to accomplish and when done properly the listener will know. Over the years I have watched him grow and mature. He is now a seasoned veteran who has much to teach us if we try to understand what his music says to our souls. I only wish there were more musicians out there like that.
