Free Music Notes for Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of RockFree Music Review: Same thing again Hit: 2 StarsThere are deffinatelly 2-3 good songs in there...
...but why do I always get the feeling that I listen to the same stuff for the past 15 years???
K, I am not expecting to get a "Flying In A Blue Dream" anymore, but...
Please Joe... make fewer and better albums!
Free Music Review: Pretty good! Hit: 4 StarsIt isn't anything groundbreaking like "Surfing With the Alien," but "Professor Satchafunkilus" is still a great buy.
Upon the first two listens, it's clear that this is indeed Satch doing just what he wants. He never seems to run out of ideas, resulting in the plethora of albums he's put out. Just like his other albums, this one has its moments of mystery, happiness, funk, and anything in between.
Diehard Satch fans won't be disappointed, but if you're looking for the album of the year, you'll be disappointed. Still, chalk one up for this virtuoso!
Free Music Review: Not the best Satch... Hit: 3 StarsI was dissapointed with this disc. After the great "Supper Collossal", I was really hoping for more great songs from the master. This one had some great song ideas (Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat, Asik Veysel), but I thought that he never really develops the ideas beyond the basics. It's like he went into the studio and just jammed, and didn't think too hard about the song structures. While Satch is a great, great guitarist, his appeal to me has always been the songwriting. This disc is definately weak in that area.
Free Music Review: Good, but not enough for Joe Hit: 3 StarsCertainly, the last CD I REALLY loved was Crystal Planet. Why can't he make me feel good- like life -he try to? Asik Vaysel is great I used to expect from Satch. I bought the Professor Satchafunkilus CD on saturday and here it is Monday and I am ready to sell it.
Little boring. It is not including new materials; same to structer of songs.
Free Music Review: Joe can do better Hit: 3 StarsSatriani is hands down my favorite guitar player of all time. But ever since strange beautiful music, his albums have been going downhill. There are some good tunes on this cd but nothing totally amazing. Joe's playing has gotten better over the years and he is more grooving than ever but the songs and production have taken a backseat. Everything seems half baked these days. The songs have great ideas but they need more time to be worked on and developed. I think maybe he needs to work with a new producer or something.
Overall the album is worth listening to and not bad by any means. Andalusia and Musterion are cool.
For a Satriani album...this is just decent and won't knock your socks off.
