Free Music Notes for Global a Go-GoFree Music Review: MEGA BOTTLE RIDE Hit: 5 Stars
A gorgeous album! Spacious and crisp, intelligent and yet still playful. While not full of the pounding grit of Clash days, Strummer's mix of reggae dub, lounge jazz, latin-arab flavors, with british folk & rock are effectively accomplished. The lyrics are worthwhile as well (as opposed to most current songsters, Strummer's words are actually funny or mean something). PLUS: kudos to Tymon Dogg's violin playing which adds an intense stratum to this warm beauty of a cd. Strummer is one of those rare artists who's not afraid to reinvent himself as time moves on. Great Stuff! Great Band!
Free Music Review: Strummer can't and never failed! Hit: 5 Stars
With the news of Joe Strummer's passing, my heart has skipped a beat...The frontman for the only Band that Mattered has joined Joey and Dee Dee in Punk Rock Heaven. When I get the nerve to listen to the old Clash stuff and his more recent work, I will cry, sing along, and celebrate the life of an individual I saw as a hero. He passed at least knowing that the Clash gained the respect they deserved by being inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. Thanks for all the memories Joe! RIP.
Free Music Review: Wonderful music Hit: 5 Stars
WOW!This record blew me away. Strummer and his band shine in this release, combining the best sounds from world music, merging styles elegantly and creating a fresh new style that proves refreshing, soothing and extremely well rocking. His legacy lives on and raises the bar on popular music so high that I fear no one shall ever surpass it. Wonderful songs that endure pleasingly.
Free Music Review: Best for Last Hit: 5 Stars
Not only the last album of Joe Strummer's illustrious career but I believe his finest. An extraordinary fusion of so many genres: punk, techno, country, folk, and Latino. More textured, complex, and mature than much of his Clash material, but still has the fire that made the Clash one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Belongs in any comprehensive rock music collection.
Free Music Review: such an improvement over the last Hit: 5 Stars
What a great CD, particularly because it's so full of Strummer's wisdom and humor. The instrumentation is nicely complex and ensures that this cd can be listened to over and over again. I wasn't a fan of too many tracks on the last cd but this one is so solid that I'm excited for the future of Strummer's solo career. There's no one like him and it really shows why on this cd.
