Free Music Review: Jack and Coke
Hit: 5 Stars

Last night, when i got home from one of the worst days of work I walked straight through the door without checking the mail. When I realized this, I went straight to the mail box, where streetcore was waiting for me. I ran back up the steps to my apartment, poored myself a strong Jack and Coke, and listened to the my new cd straight through. This is probably the best album I have ever bought, I even think it beats out some of the clash's stuff (yes, I have them all, and have been a fan since I got Combat Rock at a ripe 6 years old). Everything is fresh and new, with an energy and dedication that I haven't heard in any artist before. But let's not trake credit from the mescaleros. The arrangements are great, the music and lyrics are sheer poetry. Joe will truly be missed.

Free Music Review: Fitting last testament
Hit: 5 Stars

Typical Joe, that he had to have his best work since London Calling released after his death. An undeniably important rock and roll figure he was, and he was also one of the few who was able to live what they preached. It's clear from Streetcore that, had he lived, he would have continued his path out of punk and toward solid rock and roll. Streetcore is absolutely fantastic, the sound of an artist at the peak of his game - making his death all the more tragic. Streetcore, it should be warned, also has an especially poignant rendition of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" which brought this reviewer to tears upon first listen. No mistake about it, Joe Strummer's legend will continue forever, and Streetcore is a fitting epitath to the life of a genius. Farewell, Joe.

Hit: 5 Stars

I bought myself this album for my birthday a few years ago. From the moment I put it on I was like right on right on. Track #2 was the jam. I think I wore out the first copy I had and told every musician I played with at the time that this album was the truth. Joe Strummer was a pioneer. This album was produced in 2003 and released after Joe's death. Rick Rubin sprinkles some of his magic to make artists sound alive through speakers attached to stereos around the world. This album hit me like a bomb between the minarets. Ring the alarm we're here to wake up the snoring. I wish Joe were still alive and am sure if he was he'd be rockin' on and on and on.

Free Music Review: Beautiful End to a Punk Legend
Hit: 5 Stars

Joe Strummer never got to see this album come out. His death was unbearable for all Clash and Punk fans alike. It is a good thing this came out to give us some great music and some of Joe's best songs. The cover of Bob Marley's Redemption Song is beautifully produced by Rick Rubin, which was originally a duet with Johnny Cash. Here to me it has more meaning. Get Down Moses is a classic song which brings back moments of The Clash. Favorites include Coma Girl, Get Down Moses, Long Shadow, Ramshackle Day Parade, Redemption Song, Burnin' Streets, Midnight Jam, and Silver and Gold. Highly Highly Recommended. R.I.P. Joe Strummer. LONG LIVE THE CLASH!!!!!

Free Music Review: London Calling redux
Hit: 5 Stars

Streetcore has all the hooks that make London Calling the album it is, and that Global a Go Go needed. Mr. Strummer sounds stronger than ever, and his cover of "Redemption Song" seems like it could be an original. It is perfectly tailored to him, his politics and his voice, and that is the best praise one can recieve. Being a Clash fan, hearing Global a Go Go was a bit disappointing, although it was interesting to hear Joe Strummer's world and reggae influences throughout his music, but Streetcore definately exceeds all expectations. Joe croons, Joe emotes, but most of all, Joe rocks, and that is what truly counts.
