Free Music Review: there will always be rock and roll
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful final release from Joe and his pesky meskies. I, like most people who love the Clash and rock'n'roll, were very upset and hurt when Joe Strummer died. When I found out that this record had been released, I raced out and bought it. And, I must say, this is probably the best Mescaleros album. "Coma Girl" just blows me away, "Gets Down Moses" has one of the best raggae beats Joe's ever done, and his cover of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" is amazing, and the rest of the album shines as well. Go out and buy this album, and listen to the swansong of a Rock N' Roll legend!!

Free Music Review: A Voice for the ages!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Seldom does a performer have as much to say as the amazing Joe Strummer. His last album is as good and powerful as any Clash release. Not quite the same as the Clash but thats what makes it so good. He followed his own path and did things his own way and the resulting career stands up to the test of time and the final words are a fitting and masterful conclusion. All of the songs are great but his Ode to Johhny Cash, "Long Shadow" could also be a tale of his own great legacy. The greats always leave us too early but Streetcore is amazing and should be in everyones collection!!

Free Music Review: Smokin' Joe
Hit: 5 Stars

One of the best showcases of Joe's cross-genre talent ever. I love the smokey, sultry quality of his voice on these tracks. Truly an enormous loss for all of us '70s teens who grew up in the original punk era was Joe's passing, and this, his last album prior to his untimely death in 2002 is, in my opinion, one of his best ever. The incredible talent of the Mescaleros shines through, together with the energy Joe obviously brought to this Labor of Love. Every single track on this CD is a good one, but I especially enjoy Get Down Moses. Rock on Joe! We miss you!

Free Music Review: GEM
Hit: 5 Stars

If, due to high expectations because of all the great reviews,
you're not absolutely enthralled with this gem of a CD the first time you hear it...give it a little time to grow on you...you'll soon realize that your high expectations were right on the money.
The song Joe wrote for Johnny Cash (Long Shadow) sounds very Dylan-inspired...could have been on Blood on the Tracks.
This is one of those rare CDs that you don't have to program.
There are no bad tracks. I must also add that, of all the Mescalero
CDs, this one is by far the best.

Free Music Review: Makes winter feel like spring
Hit: 5 Stars

It's hard to not be a little nostalgic when reviewing an artists
last album before their death but then again it's hard not to be
nostalgic when reviewing anything by joe strummer. Five years
since his passing I still believe this is his best solo effort.
The fact that it wasn't finished makes me wonder what more it
could have been. Strummer was one of those few voices that
seemed to speak to the whole world,a rare voice we need now
more than ever. Keeps you a little more sane doesn't it?
