Free Music Notes for StreetcoreFree Music Review: burnin' streets Hit: 5 Stars
Simply one of the best albums I have ever heard in my life. During my first listen, I cried through all ten tracks, because I finally realized how much influence Joe Strummer had on me. He was at his core a street poet, someone that could have come out of the beat generation. And Streetcore is a testament to that. The 10 tracks are full of such raw emotion that it is tough not to sense it and to feel its beauty stirring within you. By the end of Silver and Gold, my heart was about to burst. Joe was my inspiration. Rest in peace.
Free Music Review: A eulogy that only Joe could supply Hit: 5 Stars
I was a little skeptical about this release. I am glad to say that is way off the mark. From the first strains of "Coma Girl" to last stirrings of "Silver and Gold" this is a blueprint for what made Joe so special. From the great cover songs, heartfelt messages and the flat-out rockers. I hope Joe is up in heaven looking down proud of what legacy he has left for the world. Lastly, I am happy to see the Clash and Joe Strummer being honored for what they have contributed to music and life.
Free Music Review: "Getting Down" with Joe Strummer Hit: 5 Stars
Wasn't a huge fan of "The Clash", but as a high schooler in the 80's thanks to heavy radio play and MTV, I realized that without Joe Strummer "The Clash" wouldn't have existed!!! Had a chance to see his autobiography a few months ago and in the closing credits the tune "Get Down Moses" was played and I knew I had to find the cd!!! Joe & the Mescaleros lay down some serious Southwest sound. Great fun, I'm a fan!!!
Streetcore is Hardcore Joe Strummer!!!
Free Music Review: Beating with the Oil Drum Gang Hit: 5 Stars
This is without question the best CD, beginning to end, I have heard in the past two years, at least. The rockers ROCK, the ballads are poignant, the white-boy reggae stuff is way cool, the production is great, and it has SOUL. "Burnin' Streets" is underrated by other reviewers, I think--listening to it is like riding on a slow-moving but powerful locomotive. There is not a bad cut on this CD, it is essential, buy it.
Free Music Review: A real artist Hit: 5 Stars
Joe Strummer was the heart and soul of one of the greatest bands of all time, The Clash. With the Mescaleros, Sr. Strummer doesn't disappoint. A man with a great voice, an artist in the studio, and a supreme knack for putting it all together. Comfortable with punk, reggae, rockabilly, all out rock n' roll, there's nothing he couldn't do. Great Britain's authentic gift to the world. Rest in peace, Joe.
