Free Music Review: I Still Miss Joe Tex

Could this man make you laugh or what? I will forever love Joe Tex and will forever miss him. When ever I was feeling down I would play some of his tunes and he would pick me right up. Joe reminded me of Richard Pryor because both of them talked about characters you knew and grew up with in your neighborhood. You know like the woman wih the "skinny legs" and the "big fat woman" with the bertha butt. And how about the brother who was always working on his raggedy car. Although all his songs were great I think my favorite one was "Men Are Getting Scarce". I just love the line where he talks about the woman hogging al the barbeque (give me some of that barque girl and kiss me with those greasy lips). And his slow songs were also very thoughtful and soulful ( You Got To Hold On To What Ypu Got, Writing A book). Not only were his songs funny but they were also very funky. He had a bad back up band whose sound still holds up today. One thing that suprissed me was that although I knew that Joe had passed away, it wassn't till recently that I found out that he was only 47 when he died. When I think about it makes me sad , but I have the remedy to perk me back up. I don't wanna bump with no big fat woman, and I don't want no woman with the skinny legs because when I catch her I'm gonna hand her over to Leroy so she can buy him some new clothes and they can ride downtown in his raggedy old car to get some barbeque and some red kool aide. Buy this CD. It will make you feel happy and you will miss Joe too.
