Free Music Review: One of my all time favorites

I started listening to this as an LP and a cassette my dad made me, back when it was originally released. Before his death he bought both the volume 1 and 2 CD on my advice. I am not as hardcore a classical music fan as my dad however this is one of my favorite albums of all time. I'm not one for long pontificating reviews, either it speaks to you or it does not. I was in college when the LP first came out, and I never really understood the music, then. I listened to the LP now and then, but it was years later that Bach really lit up for me. For no special reason except "just because," I started to hear -- really hear -- this music. Later, I bought the CD and I listen to this only rarely, when I am in a place where I just have to hear Bach.Free Music Review: still switched on

Very, very rarely does an album affect so many people similarly. And yet reading these reviews, I could have written almost all of them: how worn out my copy of Switched-on Bach was, how it was one of the most memorable albums of my life, how it turned me on to the brilliance of Bach, etc. An album for the ages, comparable, in different ways, to Meet the Beatles and Tubular Bells.Free Music Review: 40 years later it's STILL great

even though it's been 40 years since it was released, Switched on Bach by Wendy (formerly Walter) Carlos is one of the best musical performances ever recorded. Anyone even remotely into classical music would enjoy this CD. I had this as a kid (on a record - ask your parents what those were) and it disappeared in all the moves. I was SO glad to find it again.

Free Music Review: Original is the BEST !

I memorized every note of the music on the original "LP" in the late 60's. I am thrilled to have the music again in audio CD format. I was bitterly disappointed in the S-O Bach 2000 CD - the music is muddy and dreary. This CD, true to the first recording is crisp and classic. I highly recommend this edition for a unique addition to your Bach musical library.
