Free Music Notes for Swings Cole PorterFree Music Review: John Barrowman does Cole Porter proud! Hit: 5 Stars
I first saw John Barrowman in De-Lovely, singing "Night and Day" with Kevin Klein, and he was fabulous. I'm sorry that song is not on this cd, but even without it, this cd gets better every time I listen to it. It is hard to decide on a favorite, there are so many, but "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To", "Ca C'est l'Amour", "Don't Fence Me In" are particularly fun. My favorite is "In The Still of the Night" - such romance. John Barrowman's voice is pleasing and easy to listen to, over and over. This is definitely a welcome addition to my Cole Porter collection!
Free Music Review: A Triumph! Hit: 5 Stars
This cd is a triumph. For those that listen to it once and decide that it is not like his previous cds, you need to give this another listen. His renditions of "Just One of Those Things", "In the Still of the Night" and "I Happen to Like New York" are classic and show off his golden voice. New arrangements of "Anything Goes" and "Don't Fence Me In" makes these songs sound fresh. I can only say that I look forward with great anticipation to John's next cd - let's hope we don't have to wait too long.
Free Music Review: Like being first row center with great audio. Hit: 5 Stars
I only knew John Barrowman from Doctor Who and Torchwood. When I bought my DVD of season 1 of Torchwood, JB sang on one of the extra features and I was very surprised.
This CD is excellent for those of us who love musicals and don't get to go to New York to see one. He sings with enthusiasm and obvious love for the songs and the lyrics.
It doesn't hurt that he has a great voice and there is a wide variety in the selections on this CD
Free Music Review: Barrowman delivers a classy recording Hit: 5 Stars
I decided to purchase this CD after seeing it on display in the record store. Also, the clerks in the store recommended it highly. Now, I can do the same. This recording is a classic.
John Barrowman delivers every song with the such depth and clarity. It is definitely a winner! I have never heard a better version of In The Still Of The Night. So, don't delay buy it today, you will not regret it. I look forward to hearing more from John Barrowman.
Free Music Review: Wow Hit: 5 Stars
What an amazing album. John Barrowman has the voice of an angel. I had not heard of most of the songs on the CD but even my 3 year old is singing them now. John Barrowman brings warmth, laughter, joy & pain to each song. From the incredibly toe tapping 'Don't Fence Me In' to the deep story of 'Miss Otis Regrets' this album will have a place in my CD collection for ever.
A must for every cole porter / swing music or John Barrowman fan.
