I must say that I bought this album on faith - I like John Barrowman but I *love* Cole Porter. I was somewhat nervous about what 'swinging' Cole Porter's tunes could do to them. My fears were put to rest when I heard this album. John and his arrangers did a lovely job updating Cole Porter's tunes to that they were still true to the spirit of Cole Porter, but were distinctly John's. John cannot take all the credit - the arrangements are wonderful - updated and fresh. But it is John who delivers them with a sweetness that is so often missing from singers venturing outside their normal territory - in John's case, musical theatre, specifically, shows that he's done.
This one will go on my frequent playlist and I'll probably buy copies for friends. Great job, John!

Anthony moves easily between opera and musical theatre, bringing the fun of musical theatre to opera and the staying power of opera technique to musical theatre. Sounds stuffy? Just listen to some selections on Amazon and judge for yourself.
