Free Music Review: John Coltrane- Crescent

John Coltrane's Crescent is one of the most underrated jazz albums ever. It was recorded right before his masterpiece A Love Supreme so maybe thats the reason it tends to be forgotten. But despite all of that this album maybe be better than A Love Supreme. Coltrane's playing is phenomenal and very lyrical. It's a darker moody kind of album with mostly ballads except for the short 3 minute track called Bessie's Blues. My favorite tracks on the album are the title track and Wise One two beautiful ballads by Coltrane. If you are starting a Coltrane collection or Jazz collection be sure to buy this CD. This is probably my second favorite Coltrane album of all time, the first being Giant Steps and the third being A Love Supreme. I guarantee you will enjoy this album.
