Free Music Notes for John Denver - Definitive All-Time Greatest HitsFree Music Review: The "Country Boy" does good. Hit: 5 Stars
In this cynical era of chattering moon-bats, it's nice to know that we can still snuggle in the warm vibes of John Denver. Knowing that he wasn't designed to be some poseur, or a pretty-boy, he simply let the music speak for itself. And we, the listening public, have reaped the rewards. John Denver was not another sycophantic brooder who blindly catered to the doomesayers lurking around every corner, and we, his legions of fans, delight in singing with him about those "country roads" that will inevitably lead us all to the utopia he predicted. On your feet for the bowl-cutted boy wonder.
Free Music Review: TImeless Hit: 5 Stars
John Denver is simply one our American treasures, his songs are timeless. I'm a new Denver convert and listening to these songs now make me think they are in no way out of place or time. American folk rock/country at its best. If you want to pick up an album with all of Denver's hits and even some non-hits this is it. The album also includes: an informative blurb about Denver's music and career written by a fan, several wonderful pictures of Denver, small pics of all his albums, some interesting quick notes about each song, and vital stats about each song (but no lyrics sadly).
Free Music Review: What a fabulous CD! Hit: 5 Stars
When I bought this CD, I was almost embarrassed to admit it to my friends. After all, John Denver was never "cool" or counterculture. Let me just say that, upon hearing his voice again on the first song, I broke into tears. There is a sweet innocence and rare beauty to all his songs.
I suppose that singing about nature and devoted love is so unhip. But, if it is, let me hear more of the John Denvers and less of the rappers.
I enjoyed every single song on this CD, a rarity these days. Loved it, loved it, loved it. John Denver is sorely missed...
Free Music Review: Original Remasters Hit: 5 Stars
I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned it here, but the big question I had in buying this was whether or not these songs were the original recordings since John Denver re-recorded so many of his hits. I was pleased to find that they are remastered originals, exactly what my girlfriend has been looking for. She has thus far settled with remixes and re-recordings and longed for what she remembered hearing as she grew up. Since it's not yet Christmas, I haven't heard the CD, but I'm sure it's great and I'm looking forward to hearing his cover of The Band's, "The Weight".
Free Music Review: One of the good guys Hit: 5 Stars
I love John Denver. I love his music. I love everything he stood for - his love of nature and animals and good, old-fashioned values. In this day and age, with way too much focus on pop culture and superficial, shallow and soulless "artists," listening to John Denver's music is like sitting by a warm fireplace on a cold winter's night. And it makes you long for a more quiet, calm and simple time.
My Sweet Lady is one of the most beautiful folk ballads of the 70's. I hope John Denver's music will live forever. You did well, John!
