Free Music Review: John Denver Lives On
Hit: 1 Stars

This cd truly touches every component of my heart. Annie's Song brought tears to my heart and truly made me reflect on the importance of sharing LOVE with someone.

This is a GREAT CD! Listening to John Denver takes me to another placce and another time. His music is timeless. A must for John Denver Fans. Actually, a must for anyone who likes to feel good.

Free Music Review: Mostly the Best of John Denver
Hit: 4 Stars

I grew up with John Denver music, something my mother especially loved. Buying this album had the same feeling of me getting over the uncoolness of owning "my mom's music" that I had to face when I bought, gasp, ABBA Gold. (But my mom likes Paul Simon too, so I've got to give her some credit.)

Good music is good music, and John Denver has a lot of great songs, many included here. I listened to this album several times back-to-back while painting a house, and the greats and non-so-greats really start to stand out. Some quick notes:

-Both versions of "Calypso" are quite good. Loved the instrumental, but glad to have the original as well. Same for "Leaving on a Jet Plane."

-Largely excellent choice of songs on the first album, though the "bonus" second disc is far too short. Four songs really is too few, and I'm sure they've got lots of Denver lesser-known-greats they could have dusted off for this.

-"The Eagle and the Hawk" is annoying. I know Denver die-hards will disagree, but he's just wailing by the end, and I always find myself skipping to the next track. I'd nominate "Grandma's Feather Bed" as a replacement and nice complement for "Thank God I'm a Country Boy."

Free Music Review: Sub-par John Denver
Hit: 1 Stars

I didn't like this one at all. The phrasing on his standed hits is rushed and choppy. Not the easy flow that I have liked for so long. The CD "John Denver's Greatest Hits" is much better.

Hit: 4 Stars

A great addition to anyones collection. This is a great mix of Denver from the begining and the middle of his carrier. Disk two I wasn't real impressed with, but the first disk is will worth it. It is also nice to have the second one for all four of the unrealsed songs.
