Free Music Review: Its like an old friend has returned

This DVD is a must for all CCR and John Fogerty fans.
Fogerty has shown that he can still write with the best of them.
This DVD shows why CCR sold more singles than any other American Band during the 60's, which includes the Beach Boys.
The DVD opens with a very strong version of the CCR classic, Born on the Bayou, which to me remains my favorite CCR song of all time.
It then goes into a version of Green River. Green River has always been a personal favorite of mine.
He then goes into the Jay Hawkins classic Suzie Q, again one of the all-time CCR classics.
Next is Bring it down Jelly roll which is off of Blue Moon Swamp, which is one of the several songs from his then current CD that he promotes on this DVD.
He then goes into his classic protest song, Who'll stop the rain. Who'll stop the rain again is a CCR classic.
And next is the title song Premonition and then the blues masterpiece A Hundred and Ten in the Shade, which is one of the outstanding songs on this DVD. Its got a Mississippi Delta Blues flavor, along the lines of Cotton Fields.
He then speeds things up with his Almost Saturday Night and Rockin all over the World.
Next is the song he wrote for his wife, Joy of my life.
He then does another CCR classic from Willie and the Poorboys, Down on the Corner and brings out his baseball bat guitar for Centerfield, which is still played alot during baseball season.
Next is Swamp River Days and Hot Rod Heart, from Blue Moon Swamp.
The Old Man down the road is next and then Blueboy which is not one of the stronger songs of the performance.
A good rocker, Walking in a Hurricane is next and then he closes with 4 CCR classics, Bad Moon Rising, Fortunate Son, Proud Mary and the Encore, Travelin Band.
Personally I loved CCR during the 60's and because Fogerty has not released albums consistantly, sometimes over 10 years between releases. You forget how good Fogerty was or that he can be.

The classic rock & roll of the '60s has been milked fervidly for years now as bands reform, re-record, and license their trademark tunes until the cream is squeezed from each note. Creedence Clearwater Revival's oeuvre may be the one towering songbook from its era left fallow by its creator. Until now. After shunning his classic songs for decades, Creedence chieftain John Fogerty has embraced them as if they're long lost pals. Premonition presents 18 live tracks performed last year by Fogerty and a four-piece backing group. While there's a sampling of new material, Fogerty's first live solo album is dominated by songs he recorded in a remarkable burst that ran from 1968-72. Premonition proves that Fogerty was the Chuck Berry of his period, with classic songs that are simple, yet profound. While most topical material from the Vietnam era hasn't dated well, "Fortunate Son" still pulses like an open wound, perhaps because it wasn't inspired by noble convictions so much as blunt resentment.
