Free Music Review: Another batch of great CREEDENCE SONGS!
Hit: 5 Stars

My heart was born to the tunes of CCR

Back when I was old enough to turn the knob on FM transister radios, there was alot of good music on the airwaves...it was around 1968 or 69 ---the best sound came from this young white punk who mastered the sound of a black man singing...his band Creedence backed him with a sound so tight and mesmorizing...they became my number one most favorite band ever.
Unfortunately for us, the band blew up in a feud that divided oceans of feelings and loyalities.

Now this man is back...a bit older - way wiser - still sounding as fresh and dangerous as he did back in the day.

Now we have the incredible REVIVAL album, which is such a powerful punch of joy for all the true blue Creedence Fans around the world!!!
Once again, my heart is full of joy - knowing that John Fogerty has fully regained his step - as if Creedence parted ways only yesterday.

I can't stop listening to REVIVAL, and I have it playing now as I write this review.

My favorite track first and foremost is BROKEN DOWN COWBOY, track 4. It's truly incredible how John Fogerty can compose a truly original song, that sounds like nothing else he's ever touched....and finally Fogerty's heart is coming clean - with a heartbreakingly honest account of what may have been what his life was like when he went missing - for all those years. I love the melody; I love the words and the honesty of this song. Most of all, I am so happy to know that my prayers were answered. It's a tragic song of pain, but sometimes pain is a good thing to remind a person that they're still alive. Oh - he's better than ever today - 180 degrees ago. This song serves as a sort of answer to the questions regarding Fogerty's lost years...it's deep.

5. RIVER IS WAITING: I love it when Fogerty gets his gospitality going. His friend, Benchmark Trench adds a lovely organ that summons a choir to help this song along.

6. LONG DARK NIGHT: Here we go with a helping of that spicy, bayou- swamp gumbo. This song gets a person swinging, it has me wiggling my hips and smiling to the lyrics. John is on the radio, messin' with the man, Prez George Bush. I think that I'd want to run if I were him.....too! Makin' the job harder for our Prez - but that's a Liberal's job to do it, and Fogerty does it best! Freedom of speech - I love it! This song rocks!!!

7. SUMMER OF LOVE: A lot of fans who know Fogerty think he may be channeling Jimmie Hendrix, and they may indeed be right. I hear guitar sounds that ring off the Grapevine groove.....The Susie-Q funk ....Oh, I'm a long-term fan with long term memory! This song should be heard on the radio now!

8. NATURAL THING: The beginning of this song makes me feel when I'm going up on one of those wild roller coasters and the chain is clanging and I'm clinging...soon we're going to reach the top and get flung across those tracks...1:30 Mr. Trench joins the band and we're on our smooth roller coaster ride! The song gets stronger and faster as it goes...it's a great ride!

9. IT AIN"T RIGHT!!!: I LOVE THIS SONG))) When Fogerty sings, "Shakin your bootie.." I envision his legion of fans shakin' it at one of his concerts, getting up, dancing like wild people, not being able to sit if our lives depended on it!!! I love the slamming of the brakes at the end of the song....This is where I punch the replay button and hear the song all over again!!! I can't wait to hear John do this in concert...he will really get into it; shouting his Creedence holler, and blowin' the lid off the joint! I can hear the smile that was on his face when he cut this rockin' track, can't you?

10. I CAN"T TAKE IT NO MORE: Those rapid-fire lyrics make me think of an M-16, or an AK-47 - but they're full of truth and they're loaded with lethal wit. Ship this song off to the Democratic Convention; see what they do with it. It's a 99 second heart attack!

11. SOMEBODY HELP ME: I envision werewolves in this section of the spooky bayou, with Fogerty's vocals sounding powerful as ever. Is Fogerty howling at the moon in this rockin' plea? I love the guitar licks on this one...he's got some spooky cord progression going on....
I'm glad he's got people backing him that deserve major credit.
Kenny Aronoff on drums
Dave Santos on bass
Matt Nolen on keyboard and guitar
Billy Burnette on guitar
Hunter Perrin on guitar
WHEW * I feel safe knowing they got John's back.

12. LONGSHOT: "I ain't no doctor and I ain't no noice!" HA HA HA! Well, I am a nurse and I love it that John thought of our profession in this song. It's about a woman of means being attracted to a man of lesser means....Oooh, that's so true to life, ain't it?
The words make me crack up! "Why you jumpin my claim?"
Women are attracted to MOJO, don' cha know?

1. DON"T YOU WISH IT WAS TRUE? This song is a lateral extension of my most favorite song in the planet, Proud Mary. Which goes to prove a thought that I've had for years - there is so much in Proud Mary that can be further developed. I love the rhythm of this song / the words are so positive / and I can't help but think it would be a song to soften difficult occasions, such as a wake. I'm sure this song will be a huge success for everyone; I hear it on the radio pretty often in LA County. Congratulations to John Fogerty and Band; another radio-worthy hit is in your hands!

2. GUNLSINGER: The way this song starts is so refreshing and clean. Once again, I am amazed at the songwriting genesis of John Fogerty. He's written a thousand songs, and yet this one is truly cut from original cloth of his fertile imagination. The melody; the layering of chords; the textures of sound - it's all so strong. Fogerty's vocals sound as pure and earthy as ever. I want to hear this playin on my radio dial too! It's super good and I keep replaying it!!!

3. CREEDENCE SONG: It all started with Creedence so many moons ago, and today Fogerty is able to embrace his rock legacy with this tribute to his former identity. He's havin a bit of fun with it, ain't he? I can hear a lot of the old CCR catalogue tucked in this song, can't you?
Lookin Out My Back Door comes across at 1:00 --- Did ja hear it? Quickly it is followed by licks from Green River comes across at 1:10
1:52 I can hear a little of Old Man Down the Road, can't you?
2:39 is the well from Green River.....
and Good Golly! At 3:38 Miss Molly sneaks her licks in to end the song!
Does anybody hear any other CCR/Fogerty songs in there? It's a tall order of French-fried fun!

For all persons interested in the legendary John Fogerty and Creedence Clearwater Revival, this album is made especially for you.
Fogerty has been around since 1968 - CCR broke up in 1972...he did a few things involving Centerfield - but now he's been back at it - since 1997 with BLUE MOON SWAMP as an effort in earnest to recapture the man
who invented that Creedence sound.
I'm happy to see Fogerty's success in acheiving the lofitiest of his musical goals.
Buy this CD and have a happy life!

Revival (Dig) Poster

John's new album is a triumph, with a sound that is at once timeless yet urgently rooted in this time and place. The lyrics recall a continuous conversation with America, a reminder of John's unmatched ability to resonate with people from all walks of life. With a voice that can cut glass and inspire generations, and a band that sounds like it came to tear the roadhouse down, 'Revival' is not just a great John Fogerty album -- and a great rock album -- it's an essential musical work by an artist without peer, that will certainly stand as one of the most compelling albums of 2007.

The Long Road Home: The Ultimate John Fogerty/Creedence Collection

The self-referential title of Fogerty's first album in three years is no mere play on words; this is as close as he's gotten in a long while to duplicating the loose swamp blues, country, folk, soul and rock that he so memorably created a template for in Creedence Clearwater Revival. Thankfully the advertisement for downloaded ringtones in the disc's booklet is the only contemporary influence creeping into this stripped-down set of rootsy rockers and ballads. Fogerty's voice sounds great throughout; passionate, more committed and comfortable with these songs than he has seemed in years. His material has often leaned towards politics, especially as it concerns the working class, but seldom as directly as on the gutsy choogle of "Long Dark Night" and the rollicking "I Can?t Take it No More." He seems like a cranky dad on "It Ain't Right," railing about spoiled pop tarts in the spotlight, and "Summer of Love"'s look back at the titular time in the late '60s falls on the schlock side. But Fogerty charges into "Longshot" like the angry young man of "Fortunate Son," singing "I ain't got no 'ristocrats a-hangin' in my tree" with an assurance and intensity that reaches through the speakers and grabs the listener. Just like in the old days. --Hal Horowitz
