Free Music Review: Wish I hadn't purchased this CD!

I wish that I had only bought the singles of the song "Used to Love U" and "Ordinary People". There might have been a total of 4 songs that I actually liked on this CD; not enough tracks that I liked to actually justify purchasing the CD. Free Music Review: John Legend raises the bar and scores a big GOAL!

John Legend (born John Stephens) puts out a great debut CD with this one entitled "Get Lifted." His voice is in fine form and the musical arrangements couldn't be better. Everything is very neatly planned. At times Legend reminisces about his childhood in the song "It Don't Have To Change" featuring the Stephens family. Snoop Dogg himself also contributes so damn well to this album in the song "I Can Change." Look for Kanye West to help out with the songs, too!
The quality of the sound is excellent; and the liner notes include (almost) the full lyrics and credits for each song. There are great pictures of John both today and from his childhood; and the credits are very nicely done.
One note: this is a review for the CD version that has explicit lyrics. In case this is an issue for you, then this CD is not for you. There's another CD by John Legend for sale on the Amazon web site that does not say "explicit lyrics" but I cannot guarantee that the lyrics on that CD have been edited.
I think my favorite song on this album would be a tie between "Ordinary People" and "It Don't Have To Change." John plays the piano so well in the first song and when his own family members come in with "It Don't Have To Change," I was very touched and moved. I could really identify with John's desire to go back to simpler times.
John obviously has great talent and can move rather skillfully between slow jams, some elements of hip-hop and contemporary R&B and soul in general. This is just the beginning for John and already I want his sophomore album! Where do I go to buy it? :-)

Not only a Pianist, but John Legend has a beautiful voice! Kanye West is one of my musical heart belongs toO & John Legend is right by his side. GREAT MusiC, that much of cursing is such a deal...since im 14 But i Love his music and his next single should be "DONT HAVE TO CHANGE"
