I have long been a Beatles fan, and always liked all of John Lennon's solo efforts as well. At least the more popular songs like, Imagine, Woman, Watching the Wheels, and Starting Over. Then, while visiting a friend, I saw this compliation. It is without a doubt one of the best c.d.'s of the compliation category. I didn't hear the whole thing til the day after Christmas, (It was a gift), I am so happy with this c.d. You usually can't go wrong getting the greatest hits, and this is definitely "the very best of John Lennon" as the cover of the disc states. There were a few songs I didn't know, but with each listening to this c.d., I seem to enjoy the whole thing more and more. It is a great tribute to the genius called John Lennon. I believe he is one of the greatest songwriters I have ever had the pleasure to hear. It's so sad that he had to be taken from us so soon.. TO YOU JOHN, You'll live forever through this tribute.
Free Music Review: If you must have 1 Lennon CD, this is it! Hit: 5 Stars
Sure we've heard all these tune recycled in colection after colection...Lennon's other compilation fall short...Shaved Fish is naturally obsolete as it came out in 1975 and frankly is not worth the purchase...The John Lennon collection is great and a move in the right direction as it has his later songs and one rare b-side..and therefore worth holding onto....Imagine John Lennon soundtrack lost focus having to cover John's Beatle and post Beatle career...did we really need to have the double fantasy tracks..maybe "beautiful boy" would have been enough...anyway the value in that album lays in the opening track Real Love....Lennon Legend would have been wiser to have included that track by far, but what it does is include all the singles and select songs from plastic Ono Band all the way into Milk and Honey....all remastered...they have never sounded this good...this becomes the definitive hits collection!
Free Music Review: Lennon Legend/The Very Best Of John Lennon Hit: 5 Stars
This is a must CD for John Lennon fans. This CD offers some of John's best recordings. Listening to this CD you get the feel for John's true talent as a song writer and includes so much emotion. We often forget that John was a deep thinking, compasionate man, we are reminded of that with this CD. Listening to this CD will allow you to go back in time and connect with the most awesome music artist to ever live (my opinion). In the song "Beautiful Boy" you can just feel him singing this song for Sean. In the song "Mother" I can feel his pain and feeling of loss. Who could forget "Power to the People"? Such a controversial song in it's time. The cut "Love", will give you the chills... This is a must have to add to or complete a John Lennon collection. Don't miss out...pick this one up, you'll listen over and over again and love it each time. I love you John Lennon.
Free Music Review: Great compilation... Hit: 5 Stars
If, like me, you're not the biggest Lennon fan in the world - yet you still thoroughly enjoy a lot of his records - then this is for you! "Whatching the wheels", "Woman", "Imagine", "Mind Games", "Love", "Power to the People" - all total classics. I've never been too keen on "Mother" or "Happy Xmas (war is over)", but I find it hard for any music lover not to like this record. "Working class Hero" is FANTASTIC - although not to be played when your grandmother comes round for Sunday dinner!!THE best track though is "Jealous Guy" - probably one of my favourite solo Beatles songs ever.. It amazes me when people harp on about "Imagine" (the song) all the time and fail to realise that off "Imagine" (the album) - "Jealous Guy" was by far the best track! Great music - great compilation.
