Free Music Notes for Lennon Legend: The Very Best Of John Lennon

Free Music Review: He Truly Was A Dreamer
Hit: 5 Stars

I love John Lennon. I still miss him and mourn his death. What he was as a person seems even more meaningful now than when he wrote and sang these songs. But to me, his solo albums often lacked cohesiveness and suffered from inconsistency of quality. Still, he managed to write a couple or more gems per record and when you asemble them together, as in this set, we are reminded of his incredible genious. The more I listen to his work, the more I realize just how right he was in perspective.

"Imagine" was overplayed to death back in the day, but it is still one of the most powerful pop tunes in history. Likewise, "Mother" is so personal and intense that it still causes me to tense and look inward. When I hear "Give Peace A Chance", I once again wonder if the right people are making the important decisions in the world today.

Timeless music by a man with a golden heart.

Free Music Review: All I am saying, is give this a chance.
Hit: 5 Stars

It's just what it says it is, "The Very Best of John Lennon". This is almost identical to "The John Lennon Collection" that came out in 1982, but tops it because it's one track longer, and includes the song "Nobody Told Me". I can't think of anything missing besides "Dear Yoko". No biggy. Anything on here you may not recognize is most likely as good as the rest. This includes the classics "Give Peace a Chance", "Jealous Guy", "Instant Karma", and of course "Imagine". One of my favorites is "Beautiful Boy". It has one of the all-time best lyrics, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans". I have been a fan of his ever since my mother played his records while cutting my hair as a child. You might also want to check out his old band. They were pretty good too.

Free Music Review: Don't listen to that guy! (who puts this music down)
Hit: 5 Stars

Oaky, now listen. Everybodys entitled to their own opinion, but whoever says this music is bad, obviously has a bad mind to begin with. Lennon was a great man of peace, love, and kindness. Plus his music was AWSOME (just like his friends, the other three Beatles of course!) Anyway, I highly reccomend this CD, and reccomend you ignore reviews that denounce the music and the man. IT's okay to maybe agree with the guy who says "just another compalation", becuase I noticed you can buy a Cd entitled the John Lennon collection, which features many of this album's songs, plus a few more. But when someone says its not good music, whoah, hold on, stop right there! It's GREAT music. How can you NOT like the Beatles and their solo careers? They shaped music, fashion, and more, and were simply the GREATEST band ever. So what I'm saying is, buy theis CD, ignore people "denouncing" it.

Free Music Review: John Lennon for Dummies
Hit: 5 Stars

Beatles snobs and Lennon diehards will probably pick apart this CD for missing a few favorite tracks. But those who, like myself, just want a one-stop guide to the legendary musician's work will be most pleased with this excellent retrospective. All the key tracks are here: the quiet beauty of "Imagine" (one of the most influential pop tunes ever), the touching sincerity of "Beautiful Boy" (dedicated to his son Sean), the outright gorgeous "Love," the signature anti-war anthem "Give Peace a Chance," and the sap-free "Woman." Clearly, there is much more to Lennon than "Lennon Legend," and those who gotta have it all should probably get his box set. But for the casual listener who's looking for a pu-pu platter of the best of this visionary's solo work, "Lennon Legend" does the job nicely.

Free Music Review: "And We All Shine On....."
Hit: 5 Stars

If you need a great overview of John Lennon's most famous hit songs, this CD is the only place you need to go. It pretty much has everything a fan would need to hear. It's amazing to hear some of these songs that still sound crisp and fresh and still ring true to this day. From "Imagine" to "Give Peace A Chance" to "Working Class Hero", John Lennon is the music world's greatest songwriter(him and Paul), and this collection only shows why he's loved and respected so much. Lennon might've gone into light pop with songs like "Woman", "Love", and "Beautiful Boy", but it is good pop at least!. There is also the almost forgotten #1 hit "Whatever Gets You Thru The Night", which features Elton John. A definitive collection that needs to be in your CD library. If not, what are you waiting for?!.
