Free Music Review: Mayer's personal best

I did it backwards: I purchased Mayer's Heavier Things CD, then his Room For Squares CD, and then his Inside Wants Out CD. While I love all three, I consider Inside Wants Out to be his personal best. After listening to this CD, I understand John Mayer in a way I hadn't even after hearing his other two CDs. I understand why he felt he had to put this CD together and get it out on the streets. This is John Mayer, pure, unadulterated and unfettered, at his musical finest. This is officially my favorite John Mayer CD.
If you're a fan, you should own this CD. If you aren't, you should be listening to it.
Free Music Review: In Some Ways, Better than SQUARES

As soon as I read that this album had more of an acoustic feel to it, I knew I had to have it. Mayer's voice is clearer and more intense on this album without all the background noise to get in the way. "Back to You" was a song I hardly noticed on SQUARES, but this version makes it one of my favorites. Whenever I listen to INSIDE WANTS OUT, which is often, I feel what it must have been like for those lucky people who heard Mayer in the small clubs and venues when he was just starting out. SQUARES still rocks, but this album has a quiet reserve to it that keeps it from being redundant.Free Music Review: More Intimate Acoustic Arrangements

I picked this up after owning Room For Squares when I heard it had more of an acoustic arrangement to a good deal of the great tunes on RFS. This makes me imagine what it might be like to sit in on a creative session with John and a guitar. I can well imagine his live shows would be just as intimate and beautiful. I am thrilled to see he has a new album due in early February -- I'm pre-ordering it - because I am so sure it will contain more beautiful gems like Your Body Is A Wonderland, and Why Georgia, and much more. I got into John Mayer because my Ex b/f sent me the song "comfortable"...talk about the song you wanna hear!! haha, John Mayer has such great lyrics, its like you can actually relate to what hes saying in YOUR life! I bought this CD today actually and ive listened to it 5 times or more! I love the song, "Love Soon" and "Back to you" -- also, i Downloaded this song called "Mess with Forever" -- is that on the Any Given Thurday cd? because that song is soo good! lol, buy the cd - become a John Mayer fan! he deserves it! =)Free Music Review: Excellent!

This is pure, unadulterated John, the way we knew him in 2001 when we were just getting to know him... only more acoustic, just pure voice, and the awesome soul-bearing lyrics that get your heart a-racing. Get it for a change of pace, if you've never heard John "raw." I've heard that this was the demo tape John used to "sell" his music to the studios, and led to the release of "Room for Squares." It's plausible...
6/09 Actually, I know now that it was actually an independent release that JM put out before RFS.
