Free Music Review: John brings new light to his new songs...
Hit: 4 Stars

I've always loved the way John Mayer takes his songs to the acoustic side of things and this album highlights that talent. The songs have a different feel to them. They don't sound as deep and emotional as the full orchestrated Continuum versions, but (with the exception of Waiting on the world to Change - which sounds identical to the Continuum version) both Belief and Slow Dancing (the two strongest on this album) have a more personal sound to them.

The production is spotless and it sounds as though the album was recorded in the studio as opposed to live, and result is a definite additon to your John Mayer collection.

The only fault I have is that there isn't a longer track listing.

Free Music Review: Good John Mayer
Hit: 4 Stars

I am not particularly a fan of the live recordings. The people screaming in the background accompanied with hard to hear music is not something I like to subscribe to, but this CD is better than the average live recording. I don't know if it is because it is from a smaller venue or what, but Village Sessions really shines through. Being an acoustic guitar fan, it is nice to hear some of my favorite newer Mayer songs in the acoustic format on this disc.

I liked this CD better than As/Is just because the quality was better (in my opinion.) If you are a John Mayer fan this is a must have, especially for the price!

Free Music Review: Nostalgia
Hit: 4 Stars

it seems to me that John doesn't want his audience to forget his roots. I can identify with his need to just play it simple with a couple of beautiful sounding acoustic guitars. There's some lovely slide guitar in there (i wont say where). This is an interesting pick of tracks from John, I'm more used to his youthful cynicism than the tones of mature reflection and a sort of comfort in his ability to just sing and be himself. Top marks John, "Go to the front of the class!" I was disapointed that the sound did'nt come accross well in the car (no surprise) but really enjoyed it on the home system.
Great Stuff... more please.

Free Music Review: . . . different from what I thought it would be like
Hit: 4 Stars

Just one song on this CD is worth the price I paid - Slow Dancing in a Burning Room blew me away. Although personally I wasn't thrilled with every song, I think these tracks show that John Mayer is getting closer and closer to where he strives to be in his music. Needless to say, when you play this CD you'll hear his passion through your speakers. Overall, this CD would be a great addition to your collection if you are a true John Mayer fan.
