The songs "MY SWEET LOVE and RIDE BACK HOME".....are "GREAT". But the rest of the album is a DOWNER ( big time ). John needs to quit writing songs about the world JUDGED off the TV news. MOST PEOPLE don't live like the ones on TV....THE USA ain't that bad........IN THE REALITY WORLD. " Other words the PAST". Write some happy TUNES about the past...make us fans feel good again and DANCE. MY SWEET LOVE is GOOD example. Sing about those SUMMER days at a 50's dance, a great old AMERICAN baseball game, or a old man and a dog playing HARMONICA. GET REAL, sing about the past.
