Free Music Notes for 1000 Miles of Life

Free Music Review: Love It
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a great fan of H&O, but I also love their solo work. John Oates writes with depth and passion, and this is absolutely top notch. Circle of Three is my favorite. Also, loved getting to hear T-Bone again!

Free Music Review: Quality by Oates
Hit: 4 Stars

I was a phan of Phunk Shui and I also bought the Solo album with the concert footage which I enjoy. When I first heard 'Phunk' it took a couple plays for me to appreciate the effort and his newest effort in '1000 miles' was the same. It took at least three plays for me to appreciate some of the efforts including 'Ghost Town' but when I caught on it's been a mainstay of my MP3 listening. I don't want to go into detail but it's a very well made collection of music and worth every penny. Why not five stars? Well, I reserve 5 stars for those extra special efforts that come along only once in a blue moon.

If you enjoyed the music of Oates before...you'll enjoy this effort even though it's certainly different from 'Phunk'. It's quality from start to finish.

Free Music Review: Good to hear from you John...
Hit: 4 Stars

...This album is a bit more acoustic than Mr. Oates prior release PS and quite frankly about 180 degrees different (not that different is a bad thing at all). His voice seems richer with age and the songs are a real pleasure to listen to. Excellent album! Glad to hear you are still writing new material!

Free Music Review: great cd
Hit: 4 Stars

it is too bad that he does not put out more solo work or domore of the songs with hall and oates, he has a very good voice, if you like hall and oates you will certainly like this solo work.

Free Music Review: Not a "Phunk Shui II"
Hit: 3 Stars

Another mainly acoustic offering by half of the best duo in music. This album, recorded in Nashville, has a decidedly rock-bluesy feel to it and an occasional steel guitar weaving which really makes me think John would make some dynamite country music. (Hey, if the Osmond Brothers did it)...

Best songs are "1000 Miles of Life" and "The Good Son". John also re-makes 1990's "Change of Season" from the title track of that Hall & Oates album.
