Free Music Notes for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: Magical Hit: 5 Stars
Wow! The legendary John Williams does it again with this magical score to the instant classic film 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'. You hear this score and just know that it's John Williams, he's just such a wonderful composer, the best film composer out there in my opinion. The music here is just so magical and sets the mood for the film perfectly. One of the first things my friends and I said after seeing the movie was "Wow, that was a great soundtrack, we have to get it!". Well, I had already purchased the soundtrack, as soon as it had become available infact. I trusted John Williams enough to buy this soundtrack without hearing any of the music yet. I was pleasantly surprised!John Williams's magical theme song (Prologue) reoccrs constantly in the score. Often it is incorporated seamlessly into other tracks, making for a beautiful, magical, and highly original score. My favorite track is defintely 'Prologue'. I just can't get over that magical theme! 'Harry's Wondorous World, 'Christmas at Hogwarts', and 'Entry into the Great Hall and The Banquet' are also some of my favorites, but all of the tracks are wonderous! With nineteen tracks on here, you get well worth your money! The packaging is lovely and comes with a free poster of Harry and Hedwig, his owl. There are other colorful and high-quality pictures in the booklet. You get a free soundtrack collector's card with a chance to win Harry Potter items. There is also a lovely little note from Chris Columbus in the booklet about magic, the film, and the score, which I just loved reading. A must own!
Free Music Review: Wiliams gives classics a new lease on life - again Hit: 5 Stars
Again John Williams delivers a great score to a wonderful film. The music from "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" is an accurate companion to the story by J K Rowling in more ways than one. Much has already been said in previous reviews on the spendour and richness of the music, as well as it being well tuned to the intended audience: children. However, there is even more to this soundtrack than that. Williams has always been a master in taking the musical idiom of classical composers and bringing it to people who are not so well introduced to 'real' classical music. His musical quotations are not literal: Williams mirrors the texture and orchestral sound to his own advantage. This Harry Potter soundtrack is no exception. While listening I was constantly reminded of music by Tchaikowski ('The Sugar Plum Fairy Dance' from 'The Nutcracker') in the main theme; Strawinski ('Le Sacre du Printemps') in the 'Moving Stairs' sequence; and most of Holst's 'The Planets' suite throughout -- 'The Quidditch Match', 'The Chess Game' and even 'Christmas at Hogwarts' are arguably inspired by this classical opus. Is this a bad thing? I think not: the Harry Potter soundtrack will be enjoyed by children (and adults) worldwide. With it's 'bite-size' length tracks, it can be a marvellous introduction to orchestral classics. If your children love this, I highly recommend taking their musical preferences further after this by encouraging them to listen to aforementioned music. Believe me, they will enjoy it!

Free Music Review: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! This is MAGICAL! Thank you! Hit: 5 Stars
Where do I begin?! Here's the first thoughts that came to my mind as I listen to this soundtrack: (1.) This is DEFINITELY John Williams music. No one else in the world can write music like he can, it's simply incredible. We would not be satisfied with the movie if Mr. Williams hadn't written the music. He has the ability to capture emotions, feelings, pictures... magic! Everything. I almost don't need the movie, because the music itself conveys everything... it's as if I'm watching it just by listening. It's so powerful and just amazing. (2.) The music is A LOT like Star Wars. Very similar. I occasionally hear melodies or parts of the music that bring to mind pictures of Star Wars, not Harry Potter. NOTE: This isn't a bad thing!!! Star Wars has the best music ever written for a movie, no doubt. I'm a huge fan of Star Wars and I believe that's largely because of the music. But by saying this, I hope to encourage Star Wars fans to buy this soundtrack because if you like the music in Star Wars, you'll also fall for this soundtrack. (3.) It's Harry Potter. Worried that the movie won't be true to the books? If this music is any indication, there's no need to worry... (4.) The cover of my soundtrack says "Special First Edition." Does that mean I'll have to buy another edition(s) later on? Oh mannn, I guess I'd better start saving! :-) (5.) ENJOY!
Free Music Review: Hogwarts forever!!! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a magical album. Mr. Williams reflects a pretty atmosphere to this story of magic and sorcery. The music is very delightful and pleasant. Some of the tracks are: PROLOGUE opens the album with a mysterious sound; HARRY'S WONDROUS WORLD the close theme, one of the most popular themes, a masterpiece of magic; THE ARRIVAL OF BABY HARRY, the open theme introduces our mind to this magic world, a really good track and one of my favorites; DIAGON ALLEY AND GRINGOTTS VAULT, a colorful melody with a magnificent finale; MR. LONGBOTTOM FLIES, one of my favorites tracks, a masterpiece that combines a wide number of variations, as the track 2, this is a very popular track; THE QUIDDITCH MATCH, a long track that transports the people to a really match of this game, very popular and masterpiece; FLUFFY'S HARP, one of the most harmonic and melodic tracks of the album, this is very relaxing, one of my favorites; LEAVING HOGWARTS, a really beautiful song, very melodic; HEDWIG'S THEME, the best track of the album, the masterpiece of Harry, the most artistic and beautiful track, combines Harry's wondrous world, Arrival of baby Harry, and Prologue. This track is the really theme of the movie.
In conclusion, the album is a magical box. It is a really good album. The fans and no fans of Harry will love this CD. I love it.
