Free Music Notes for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: A Magical Soundtrack Hit: 5 Stars
John Williams does it again! This cd has mystery, suspense, intruige, magic, and all other things that perfectly describe the books. The Harry Potter soundtrack is my favorite J. Williams soundtrack since Jurrasic Park. Just like the books, this cd takes you into another world, where anything is possible. From the cheerful melodies of "Diagon Alley" to the forceful tunes of "Devil's Snare", this cd is a must have! Even if you usually listen to pop, rock, or anything else, just listen to a sample and you'll see what I mean! My favorite songs are "Harry's Wonderous World" and "Hedwig's Theme". When you listen to "Quidditch Match" you can perfectly picture the out of control broom, Harry spitting out the snitch, and the crowd exploding with applause as Harry flies over the stands, his hand raised in victory. "Christmas at Hogwarts" is also a very capturing and interesting tune. I won't tell you why, in case you haven heard it already. Even if you haven't seen the movie or read the books, listening to this cd will make you want to run to the theatre to see it or to your bookshelf to read it. All in all, this is one the best soundtracks I've ever heard. Way to go, John Williams!
Free Music Review: Some of Williams best work Hit: 5 Stars
I must admit I have not read a Harry Potter book to this date. I have seen both movies and enjoyed both of them a ton. The movies however would not be nearly as good if not for the score written by John Williams."Hedwigs Theme" is a great song and will be the song you will remember most from the movie. It's a beautiful song. I love how it starts off on the bells. It adds a feeling of unknown awe when it's played. It's also great when it's not played on the bells and is done by the orchestra. It's probaly Williams best song of this new century. Fans of his will be well pleased and I think this one alone makes it worth getting the soundtrack. I liked "Hogwart Theme." The christmas song was also good. It's just a good mix and blend of music. Williams score accents the movie so well. It brings the world of Harry Potter to life so well. This soundtrack is a must own. It's some of Williams best work he's ever done. It's right up there with Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Superman, and Jurrasic Park. His fans will love this album. Fans of Harry Potter will really like it. People that like classical music will also enjoy this one a lot.
Free Music Review: The Best Williams Score in Years! Hit: 5 Stars
Like virtually every John Williams score, one need not have seen the movie it was written to support to appreciate and marvel at the rich music presented on the "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" CD. Once again, Williams has created a work that stands perfectly well on its own. From the appropriately border-line sinister main motif (heard most clearly in "Prologue" and "Hedwig's Theme") to the rousing strains of "Quiddich Match," Williams has produced music so vibrant that it almost rises to the level of his carreer high-mark of the "Empire Strikes Back" soundtrack. "Harry Potter and the Sorcer's Stone" is one part "Hook," one part "Witches of Eastwick" and one part "The Fury." There isn't a track on the disc that isn't worty of your full attention, but "Prologue," "Harry's Wondrous World," "The Arrival of Baby Harry," "Mr. Longbottom Flies," "The Face of Voldemort" and "Hedwig's Theme" are particularly impressive and bound to thrill any fan of Williams' work.
Free Music Review: A Magical Masterpiece! Hit: 5 Stars
John Williams always was and forever will be my favorite composer! His work in this movie was wonderful in many ways. My favorite track would have to be the Quidditch Match, with it's fast paces excitement shown through the strings, woodwinds, and even at one point, the low brasses. Throughout the piece, it kept the key themes playing here and there, which is what I love about Williams's music. I also enjoyed Voldemort's Theme. Through the 3 note theme, it sounds like an eerie voice whispering, "Vol-De-Mort" but, that's just me. I like the low brass part of Voldemort's theme, also. It shows that Voldemort is hated and disgusted by all magic folk. Williams is, without a doubt, a genius in magical/fantasy movies, and he always will be. The only fault I found was the theme first heard in the PROLOGUE. It's VERY similar to that of HOOK, but it's not a very big fault. It like to be able to say, "That's a Williams theme." He may not be here to compose the entire series of Harry Potter, but I'll enjoy every musical sequel he creates!
Free Music Review: So much fun! You'll feel like you're flying! Hit: 5 Stars
I couldn't wait for this CD to come out, and was thrilled that it was released before the upcoming movie. Like many Harry Potter fans, I would become instantly transfixed whenever the trailer for the film would come on TV. There just was something so magical about the music that instantly hooked me! And I was surprised to find that the composer was none other than John Williams, famed for his compositions of "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones." But it makes a great deal of sense. Williams' musical themes tend to become traditions, as the listener joyously commits his music to memory. This CD is no different! It tugs at your mind and has you humming away before you know it! There are also some scary moods, which reminds you that not everything is Harry's world is merry and bright. But before long, Williams returns you to his sweeping themes, making you feel as if you're flying on Hedwig's wings or on a Nimbus 2000! This is a great CD to add to your library and will simply fuel the fires of you imagination in anticipation for the film!
