Free Music Notes for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: John proves he's not too old Hit: 5 Stars
Once again, John Williams has written a wonderful soundtrack to a popular movie, reminiscent of the days of Jaws and Back to the Future. The prologue isn't as catchy as the themes of E.T. or Superman, but it still fits the mysterious theme of Harry Potter. Later in the soundtrack (especially in the "Quidditch Match" composition), the music gets a little happier, and some even reminded me of Star Wars. There is a nice (and somewhat dissonant) violin solo in the 5th track, during Harry's exploration of Diagon Alley. There are many other soundtracks that make this one somewhat obscure, but it should sell very well given that it is for a very popular movie. After I saw the movie, I wasn't particularly entertained by the actual movie (being long and tedious), but listened to the Williams soundtrack in the movie intently. If you like this group of compositions, all of the other John Williams pieces I mentioned should also please you.
Free Music Review: John Williams has done it again! Hit: 5 Stars
The music to the HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE film is absolutely stunning and very enchanting. Mr John Williams has done it again! He's impressed me with scores from films like STAR WARS, HOOK, and JURASSIC PARK. And now here's another winning score from John Williams! Listening to this soundtrack will make you want to go and see the film--or experience the magic of the film again, if you've already seen it. I loved all the tracks on this CD, because the score is simply magical. I cannot describe in words how wonderful the music to the HARRY POTTER film is. It is very original, but much like the typical John Williams music. Still, it captures your heart and soul when you listen to it. There's no way you can deny the power of the music. I am definitely planning on buying this soundtrack because I haven't yet. This goes on my list of being one of the top three movie soundtracks of the year! Well done, John Williams.

This score truly captures all the aspects of Harry Potter and his magical world. The celesta theme at the beginning is so catchy that you'll know from now on if you hear it that it's the theme to Harry Potter. And that's what film composers do...associate themes to a mood or character, so that you in the audience will inevitably make the connection. Although you could hear elements of Star Wars, but the thing is this has become Williams' signature sound, which unfortunately has become people's criticism of Williams. But honestly, Beethoven sounds like Beethoven, Tchaikovsky sounds like Tchaikovsky...so what's wrong with Willliams sounding like Williams? Well then one could augue that his Star Wars theme came directly from Holst's "The Planets"...but through the years, Williams has taken that and applied it to film music, and made it his own. No doubt about it...he's a film music master.
Free Music Review: A Magical Ride!! Hit: 5 Stars
This is another masterpiece from John Williams. All the audio tracks are simply magical and breathtaking. Listening to the album the first time reminded me of another of my all-time-favorite soundtracks, "Hook", which is also composed by John Williams. Both of them are about fantasy, and both of them are irresistable to me. I play back this "Harry Potter" soundtrack at least 5 times a day since the middle of November 2001!!There is also a complementary CD-ROM that comes together with the audio CD! Inside the CD-ROM, you can find many international trailers (German, French, Korea, Thailand, etc), posters, game demo, and much more!! That's not the end yet! Besides both the audio CD and CD-ROM discs, you also get a cool Harry Potter poster (featuring Daniel Radcliffe and the white owl)! (...) this is one of the best Christmas presents for Harry Potter fans!!
Free Music Review: A Delight for a Harry Potter or John Williams fan Hit: 5 Stars
Although the movie of which this album is a soundtrack has not yet been released, anyone with a knowledge of the book can listen to this soundtrack and imagine along with it all of the adventures that Harry gets invloved in. Perhaps it is so easy because of the dreamlike quality of much of the music. Even if you did not know anything about the movie but heard this CD, you would know that it is about something magical. John Williams is certainly the master of that! If I had one negative comment about the soundtrack, it is simply that it is so clearly John Williams. Many of the orchestrations and even melodic lines seem to come straight out if his existing repetoire. This is not much of a complaint, however, considering what is repetoire consists of! Any fan of Harry Potter or of John Williams' soundtracks will thoroughly enjoy this CD!
