Free Music Review: EXCELLENT SCORE, DON DAVIS HAS DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB

I was fairly disappointed when I heard that John Williams wouldn't be doing the score for Jurassic Park III, but I got this CD today, and I am completely satisfied with what Don Davis has done. A lot of the material on here is reminiscent to the "Jurassic Park" score and some parts of it sound like "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" (The Raptor Room, for example). But Instead of coping John Williams' scores of the first two films, he adapted them, made changes to them, and gave them a different feel to them overall. Adding to that, his original music is really good, it fits in well with the series. In particular, I liked "The Dinosaur Fly-By", and "Brachiosaurus on The Bank". They both have the original 'Jurassic Park' theme in it, but it still feels different, when you are listening to it. I also enjoyed the music he created for the Pteranodons. I have been anxiously awaiting for these dinosaurs to get their turn in the center stage, and I'm glad to hear that the music for their turn is very exciting and intense. It should be great to watch on screen.
Over all, I think I like this score better then "The Lost World: Jurassic Park's", because this one mixes the light elements of the first movie with some dark music, while "Lost World's" was mostly all dark. This one is just about right, it balances out, but I'll always prefer John Williams' "Jurassic Park" original score. Nevertheless, this is a great Soundtrack and it's worth a listen.
