Free Music Review: "Get Inside' this great disc!
Hit: 5 Stars

On his second disc,'Get Inside', Boston native Johnny A., hits the mark once again.
I saw him three years ago open for Jeff Beck. Although not well known at the time he left a lasting impression on the audience when he was through. He was just amazing!
I ran out and got his first release on Steve Vai's Favored Nation label 'One Tuesday Morning' and it was just as great as the afore mentioned live performance.
His second effort does not dissappoint.
My two favorite tracks are 2 and 5, 'I Had To Laugh' and the title track 'Get Inside'. He also does covers of Johnny Rivers 'Poor Side of Town' and Jimi Hendrix's 'The Wind Cries Mary' but adds a little touch of his own to each song.
Put it this way, I just got the disc today and I've already played it three times! It just that good!

Free Music Review: Tasteful Player
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD appeals to musicians (me) and non musicians (my wife)for one simple reason: Johnny A. is a very tasteful player, nay musician. These songs are truly compositions where every note counts and adds to the depth of the melody. This is the only guitar album I can play in the car with my wife!

Most guitar albums have a few hits and then each song start to sound the same. Not this one. Every song immediately sounds like a classic, and each song has its own story and character. It is simply amazing how each song takes you through its own landscape where you catch your self following along each note. His playing is precise and, as one reviewer said, he never over plays. I love this album. I love his tone, and his phrasing is untouchable. Get this album, you will not regret it.

Free Music Review: Ecstasy found in the hitherto unknown
Hit: 5 Stars

I was gleefully turned on to a new radio station, here in the Pocono Mountains. 102TheMountain.com. These guys are what a radio station SHOULD be about, but seldom are! I heard one track...one lone solitary track..and it made me hunt down the album! They've done that alot to me lately, and my music library has grown by leaps and bounds! And Amazon.com and Borders have been happily handed most of many paychecks! What would I say about Johnny A? Two things. One is, it's a shame he doesn't have more albums out there, and two, this guy does rock, jazz, blues, and everything the descriminating music lover turns over even the most distant rock for! Johnny A, PUH LEEZE have a long and decorated career! I am looking forward to every note in his musical future, and so should YOU be!

Free Music Review: Fantastic!
Hit: 5 Stars

Quite often I get driven by reviews of what others have said about an artist.

This is no different, influencing me to purchase this CD. Sometimes I am disappointed, most times I am not. In this instance, that what the reviewers (within Amazon) had to say were right on the money. This guy is a bit hard to classify (a bit like Duke Levine??); his music covers blues, rock, jazz with some country influences thrown in for good measure.

This is truly great music; intelligently crafted and delivered. There is a sense of restraint here; but in few tracks this also a bit of fire as well.

This is truly a fantastic piece of music; on the strength of which I have bought his earlier CD.

Enjoy!

Free Music Review: Good stuff
Hit: 5 Stars

If you like Jeff Beck or Dire Straits, you'll enjoy Johnny A. I had to buy this CD as soon as I heard "I Had to Laugh" on WXRT in Chicago, which I did when it was finally released last week. That is a fun, fast piece of music that will get your feet tapping. His Gibson guitar fuses jazz and blues together, and the result is strong. This is an all-instrumental CD which ranges from hard-charging to perfectly mellow, such as his version of Johnny Rivers' "Poor Side of Town". Also don't miss his uptempo version of Hendrix's "Wind Cries Mary". Some horns and keyboards add to the mix. Not a bad track on the CD. Buy it!
