Free Music Notes for Get InsideFree Music Review: "Get Inside" - Johnny A. Hit: 5 Stars
O.K., I've been listening to this CD for over a year now, let me tell you, it never fails to impress me. It continues to bring a smile to my face-each and every cut. There is an expertise at work here. Something that I'm at a loss to explain, other than to recognize a master at work along with the excellent support of Johnny's band mates, his wickedly facinating signature Gibson axe, and the stunningly complicated sound board. I can't wait for another release. Please Johnny let's get in the studio and "Knock another one out of the park!"
Free Music Review: NOT for Shredheads Hit: 5 Stars
First off, this is not a shredfest. Johnny A. is more about monster tone than monster chops, although he definitely has both of these qualities in his playing. Exquisite phrasing and rystal clear articulation are words that come to mind when describing his style. The music covers a broad range of styles and infuences, blues, jazz, rockabilly and more. The supporting musicians are all excellent, drummer Ron Stewart's contribution is standout. Add top-notch recorded sound to the package for an outstanding disc.
Free Music Review: In Canada we would call him Johnny Eh? Seriously 2 thumbs up! Hit: 5 Stars
I was driving to work about a month ago and heard an instrumental version of "Poor Side of Town." I waited till the DJ came on to find out who did this incredible guitar work.
It was Johnny A.
I'm a little late getting into this artist; but I am now hooked. I bought this CD and will now purchase his "Sometime Tuesday Morning" CD next.
He has an amazing sound that reminds me a little of Hank B. Marvin; but he is his own man. Couldn't recommend this CD any higher.
Free Music Review: WELL DESERVED RECOGNITION Hit: 5 Stars
I am lucky enough to have been acquainted with Johnny A and his mesmerizing talent for decades...it is so satisfying to see him finally getting the recognition he deserves. Buy this CD and his first release Sometime Tuesday Morning and you will understand what all the hoopla is about.
This guy can play, and he will take you places you never thought a guitar could go...he is a legend in the making!
Don't ever pass up a chance to catch him live...he will make a believer out of you!
Free Music Review: One GREAT guitarist! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought Get Inside in May 2004, and was totally mesmerised by this totally stunning guitarist! Every tune on the cd is wonderful! From the remakes of Johnny Rivers "Poor Side of Town" and the Jimi Hendrix tune "The Wind Crys Mary", to the JA originals like "Sing Singing" and "I Had to Laugh", this guy and this cd are so great! I saw him on June 6th, 2004 at Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas TX. and the guy and his band were fabulous!!! Nuff said!!! :-)
