Free Music Notes for Sometime Tuesday MorningFree Music Review: The Best Guitarist of 2001 Hit: 5 Stars
This morning Johnny A. was featured on NPR "Morning Edition" (go to www.npr.org to hear for your self.) What I heard of his music made me run home and buy the CD. Johnny A.'s style will be as reconisable as Hendrix, Santana, or any other of the great guitarists to have come along. He is retro while being very up to date, smooth while ready for anything, In a largely monochomatic music industry Johnny A. stands out as one in a million.
Free Music Review: Astounding talent Hit: 5 Stars
I, too, heard the NPR interview and immediately ordered 2 CDs, one for me, and one for my son-in-law who is a serious guitar player/lover/collector. The more tracks I heard, the more I grinned. This guy just LOVES playing his guitar! He plays like he is playing for himself - edgy chord progressions, lightning licks, strong tremelo, sounding sweet through the tube amp. Excellent jazz I am already booking a ticket to see him in person.
Free Music Review: A real smoothie Hit: 5 Stars
Writing a music/guitar album is very hard. It's very difficult not to make your songs soung like their all the same or just some kind of extended jam session. Not only does Johnny A gives the songs identity he gives them a great jazz/blues feel. I had the fortune of catching him live with B.B. King. It was the first time I heard him play and he was worth the price of addmission. This cd is a great repersentation of his music.
Free Music Review: A very musical player Hit: 5 Stars
Johnny A's playing is a melting pot of guitar culture starting from Chet Atkins, to Duane Eddie, to Jimmie Hendrix to Stevie Ray to Eric Johnson. But Johnny A is himself ! Not just an adept player, but a good writer as well with a killer voodoo vibe to boot. The whole Cd is a successful experiment in good taste, I challenge any guitar god to do the same. David Gillis Award-Winning Guitarist
Free Music Review: Very enjoyable Hit: 5 Stars
Our local radio station plays one track off Tuesday Morning and it was enough to inspire me to track down Johnny A and buy the album. Awesome guitar with enjoyable accompaniment. Great for driving or relaxing. I don't buy many CDs anymore, but I'm glad I got this and I'll try down more of his music. If you like just great guitar with a jazz/rock feel, get this album. You won't be disapppointed.
