Free Music Notes for The Legend of Johnny CashFree Music Review: Good CD but missing some good stuff Hit: 5 Stars
This is a very nice compilation but it is by no means complete. If you're looking for broader overview, The Essential Johnny Cash is probably a better choice. That one has the far superior live version of Folsom Prison along with a number of "essential" pieces missing from this collection. Having said that, this CD has the better version of A Boy Named Sue and it also includes Hurt, which is missing from the other set. I decided that I needed them both because neither one had everything I wanted. I'm sure they planned it that way <grin>.
Free Music Review: THE Legend Hit: 5 Stars
This is my favorite and most career covering Johnny Cash compilation out there. If you're needing an introduction to THE Legend that is Cash get this CD or if you're an old fan needing a good group of Cashs songs for a road trip or kegger get it. The choice of songs on the cd range from his early material (Cry,Cry, Cry and Hey Porter to later releases such as Rusty Cage -a Soundgarden cover, and Hurt- a Nine Inch Nails Cover) That is why I feel this CD is great for both old and new fans of Johnny Cash. There's old and new on there for you to listen to. A very vital CD for anyones collection.
Free Music Review: Johnny will never really die Hit: 5 Stars
Especially when they keep releasing these amazing cd's filled with this mans guts and glory. Johnny Cash on top of having a successful in his honor, is blessed with a greatest hits cd worthy of any fan new or old alike. Folsom Prison Blues remains my favorite song but after hearing some of his best track after track you begin to think everyone is your favorite. One of the best things about this is that it all fits on one cd, so no more scrambling between 2 or 3 to find your favorites, as its all in one place. Just a great, great cd definately recommend everyone checking it out.
Free Music Review: Brilliant Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great place to start if you're new to Cash. You have all his early hits, as well as his later output, including some great covers (U2's One and soundgardens rusty cage). If you like this you can then move on to the prison albums and wherever else takes your fancy. You get a short essay in the booklet and you are told where each song came from so you can find specific albums to go deeper into this great music. well worth a try.

Free Music Review: hallelujah! Hit: 5 Stars
Before this disc, no Cash "greatest hits" collection was ever worthy of the name because the Sun songs were never included with the Columbia songs. One could never hear the salute to the first wife ("I Walk the Line") with the salute to the second("Jackson") or the song about prison ("Folsom Prison Blues") with the song recorded in prison ("A Boy Named Sue"). This long overdue musical merger makes this an essential document of the career of one of the true giants of American music.
