It is difficult to believe that an individual
who participated in such landmark albums such
as Close to the Edge, Fragile and Going for the
One could be responsible for such tripe. It's
not even self-indulgent. It is a void, a vaccuum,
a dessert wasteland of music. There is nothing
here; no listening merit whatsover. Nothing
new, nothing bold, nothing original, nothing
emotionally lifting, not even a nice mix.
This album shows no signs whatsoever of the
talent of Jon Anderson. Instead, a weak voiced
Vegas show tune singer wannabe chortles
over a sound track that sounds about as
nice as those Casio keyboards that were sold
out of Sam's Clubs during the early 80's.
With little hint of melody, or even, a hint
that there SHOULD BE a melody, Jon belts out
word after word, that is neither poetic,
clever, rhyming, or meaningful; lyrics that
are about as subtle and clever as a brick
through your window.
In short, this album is a complete waste of
everyone's time and is an unbelievable drop
in artistic level from his stand-out effort,
Olias of Sunhillow. The only merit in this work
is that it probably kept the local drug dealers
in business while the group was recording.
Having said that, buy Olias of Sunhillow.
It's sublime.
