A 2001 sound production, this is a single CD package, totaling 71:10 minutes/111:10 digital time, or a little over l hour. This is 1 extended track and a 12-page booklet. As with all of Jonathan's CDs, he provides a lot of information to explain the purpose of and meanings behind the musical production. Also, as usual with Jonathan, this is a very vibrational CD, long sustained sounds overlaying each other. Many people would not call this music. There are no melodies, per se. This kind of sound compilation is mainly recognized and appreciated by those involved in energy work and alternative healing modalities. If you have "2012 Ascension," it is that type of recording. If you do not, it sounds like a continuing "hummmmm," with other sounds moving around the hum. It is quite nice, actually. I am sitting here listening and writing and my whole body is lightly tingling. It feels really good--like an energy massage from the Universe.
The sounds in this CD were designed as a healing tool. This is NOT something you would play while driving or operating machinery because it could induce a meditative state and you could come to on the "other-side".
The booklet explains that this CD may be listened to as background, for meditation, for enhancing sleep and deep relaxation, to chant with, and whatever else you have in mind. This is also a great CD for doing alternative healing modalities with, such as Reiki, acupuncture, massage, etc.
The booklet also explains that "OM" (which is actually what is being chanted) is the sacred sound most often chanted. It is said to be the "original primordial creative sound from which the universe and all of creation first manifested". Jonathan goes on to explain more. He also talks about chanting OM as "AH-OH-MMM" to resonate the heart, throat, and crown chakras (3 for the price of 1). I just came back from a sound-healing conference in Virginia Beach this month that featured Jonathan and we all did this. Can you imagine about 100+ people chanting this at the same time? The energy was awesome. Even more awesome was to sit in the silence with the vibration after we finished.
I have had some pretty nifty experiences chanting OM for an extended period of time, especially with a small group of people and Jonathan mentions this, too, in his booklet, when he talks about the "Rolling OM".
Jonathan also explains how he used the Pythagorean ratio of 2:3 on this recording or "the perfect fifth" is very effective for inducing relaxation and reducing stress. He explains the harmonics used are geometric multiples of given fundamental frequencies, or the colors of sound and he speaks of his directed intention in the making of the CD.
Many times, I use one of Jonathan's CDs to meditate or to enter a state of deep relaxation with when I go to bed. I will put on one of the CDs, snap on the Bose earphones, and zone out. I come out of the meditative state when it's over, lay the headphones down, and go to sleep. It is very relaxing. This would be pretty cool to meditate with around water, too.
