Free Music Review: Can you BUY QUIETUDE? MAYBE!
Hit: 5 Stars

Of course quietude is not a commodity for sale but these two discs are capable of producing, with the cooperation of your mental powers, a sense of quietude in your personal space. There is an amazing consistency throughout both discs especially considering that the selections are from eight albums that span the last quarter of the century up to the Millenium. This is space music at its best: ethereal, minimalistic, subtlety tuneful, and easy on the ears. It could have been titled THE BEST OF . . . but Serrie found a way of saying the same in a "QUIETER" fashion.

That's the short version. The rest of this review can be skipped, even if you are not in a hurry. It elaborates a little on the core review and adds some personal perspective.

On first listening, I tried to imagine what Serrie could have been imagining when he put these tracks together. My first impression involved a large, open space surrounded with curtains that moved in waves, drifts, undulations, swells, and sequences of these movements. Then for the physical fabric I substituted sound-waves with colors. This brought me to my final imaginary setting: a journey through the solar wind space. Disc 1 came to represent movement through the Aurora Borealis (or southern lights, your choice) with its curtains of lights, sounds, colors, and transmutations: subtle, soft, suspended, serene. Disc 2 continued this journey out of the Aurora and into the solar wind streams beyond terrestrial influences; similar aural wave and drift patterns just SLIGHTLY more naked, direct, up-front, pronounced.
Then I read his liner notes and the track/album titles and discovered that it was all in my head: No journey; no Aurora, no solar winds, no acoustic curtains. Just Serrie. Add your own imaginings. The QUIETUDE will come (for FREE).

Free Music Review: A Glittering Jeweled Crown, with One Defect!
Hit: 5 Stars

First, let me reiterate my passion for this man's music (see my review of his first release, AND THE STARS GO WITH YOU)...when I first heard that he was doing a best-of collection, inwardly I kind of yawned, since I already owned all of his CD's. But when I heard he was segueing on piece of music into another, to make one long, continuous meditation for each CD, I leaped into action to get a copy ASAP. I only have 2 criticisms...first being, that he didn't include "Fantasy Passages" from his first album, which to this day remains one of my two favorite compositions (the other being "The Ancient of Days"). Second, and more important, is a noticeable defect in the master recording process during the first selection of CD 1--6 minutes and 50 seconds into "Gentle; the Night" there is an audible scraping sound, the origin of which I couldn't begin to pinpoint. I have written to both Jonn and Miramar Music about this, and so far have received no reply. (This is after going through 3 copies of the set from Amazon.com.) I could not accept this inferior product from them OR from Jonn, and I hope that in due time this defect will be removed. Until then, I will hold off owning a copy of this magnificent collection. ...

Free Music Review: "May you dream on wings of musical light"
Hit: 5 Stars

This two-disc set is a compliation of Jonn's best "pure space music" which he composed and produced throughout 1977 to 1999. The music weaves seamlessly together in a way to alleviate stress/tension while simultaneously inducing dreamy, peaceful joy for the listener. Also included are two new compositions, "Deep Mystery" and "Andromeda's Dream." Century Seasons is sheer delight for every listener and also nostalgic to me for I was listening to it ("Andromeda's Dream" on disc two to be exact) when I read in joyous surprise that I was accepted into nursing school! Along with the music, my heart soared as I went through all the emotions of the rainbow--from shock to tears of joy. This will always be a very special cd to me as it links me to the giver of it, my wonderful spiritbrother, gypsy cowboy, who, like Jonn, is a very intelligent and special man with a gentle, radiating spiritheart. I've listened to a lot of space music in my life and Serrie's is some of the best there is. Get this now before it becomes unavailable! As Jonn says, "May you dream on wings of musical light..." o8E
Soar!

Free Music Review: A great compilation of all his work!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been a "space music" fan since the early 80s. I've got most of the popular artists from Shultze to Kitaro, but Jonn Serrie is my favorite! I've got all his albums except his Christmas recording. In my opinion, he's the true space music musician. He being a pilot and having written ambient music for planetariums-his work represents the closest one can get to audible "in your mind's eye" space flight!! His harmonies and transitions from major to minor keys are elixer to the soul! His work is very esoteric and soothing. My favorite piece is Stratos from his first album, And The Stars Go With You. Unfortunately, it's not on this release. This release is a compilation of the best of his other work plus two new pieces. With Jonn's music, one can day dream, night dream or have as a background in any setting! So don't delay. Purchase this album from perhaps the greatest of all the "new age" artists!! Then get comfortable. Put your cares and woes in "neutral". Put your mind on autopilot and cruise!!

Free Music Review: Come fly with Jonn....
Hit: 5 Stars

As soon as my copy of "Century Seasons" arrived, I put it into my CD player and spent the next two hours in heaven. Jonn's latest release is a compilation of pieces Jonn has released on previous albums along with two new pieces. One, "Andromeda Dream" was composed just for this CD. The other, "Deep Mystery" is from a new CD called "Lumia Nights" that will be released soon. But the important thing about "Century Seasons" is that it is a masterfull work of editing where each song blends with the next allowing for uninterrupted listening enjoyment. If you are new to Jonn's music, get this double CD set first to see what everyone else already knows .. Jonn sets your musical spirit free to fly to the limits of your imagination!
