Free Music Notes for Jordan Knight

Free Music Review: My favourite album... EVER!
Hit: 5 Stars

So we waited five years after the New Kids split for this first solo offering from Jordan Knight, but wow he used the time wisely because this album is fantastic! It was co-produced with the help of music legends Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and a lot of the songs were co-written with the very talented Robin Thicke. The album went platinum in the US when it was released in 99 and the first single off the album, "Give It To You" hit the top ten all over the world.

"Give It To You" is a raunchy up-tempo song basically about him knowing a girl wants him. It's begins slightly bizarrely with a fairground waltz for a few beats (which only really makes sense when you see the tongue-in-cheek mimic video of the movie classic Grease), but the rest of the song alternates between funky verses and a really catchy, dance beat chorus (with absolutely fantastic choreography in the video by Darrin Hensen). If you manage to sit still through this tune, I'd be amazed! It's also been remixed time and again for clubbers!

The majority of the album are ballads but the other fast track is "A Different Party" which is a total floor-filler with it's funky beat.

The ballads on the album also wont disappoint. JK's voice has matured beautifully over the years and he's never lost that incredible falsetto he was so famed for in the New Kids and he puts it to great use on several of the tracks on the album.

My personal favourites in the ballads that I must mention are "Change My Ways" which is simply beautiful, "Close My Eyes" which is a fantastically alternate sound to most ballads of today - I'm sure if it had been released it would have been a huge hit! The last ballad I have to mention is "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" which is actually a cover of a Prince song, but slowed down to a stunningly soulful pace. I'd be amazed if you didn't love it!

All in all, this is a surprising album for most that listen to it expecting more New Kids On The Block style tracks because JK's come so far from those days it's difficult to believe he's the same man! No cheese near this album that's for sure! Listen with an open mind and you'll love it!

Free Music Review: This cd really delivers the goods
Hit: 5 Stars

The New Kids on the Block, where known by critics around the world as teeny boppers who were manufactured, untalented kids who went running through dry ice in professionally ripped jeans, crooning their chessy pop anthems, "Hangin' tough", and "You Got it (The Right Stuff)"and others, but I must say that Jordan Knight has successfully ditched his teeny bopper past and proven those ever doubting music critics wrong as usual, and in the process has taken on a more mature sound with his first solo effort, "Jordan Knight". This album serves to almost every music demigraphic, from R&B to semialternative. Jordan easies you into his album, with his first single "Give it to You", and he traps you with his infectious song "A Different Party" which samples a guiter riff from Sugar Loaf's "Green Eyed Lady". He later keeps you in trapped with his two other songs "Change My Ways", and a cover of Prince's "I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man", where he lets out the true feeling of the song, through a slow ballad. He relates his emotion of a broken heart through the song "Broken by you". And the 95 south remix of "Give it to You" really picks your spirits up after hearing some heavy, and often sad ballads. I would give this album 6 stars if I could. Jordan has done it again, and he delivers this album with such a sincerity, that I haven't heard in a long time. You definately need to go pick it up. I would bet that you too would really love this album, as much as I do. A must buy, unlike other disappointments, Ricky Martins, cheesy, and lackluster self-titled album, and the thin voiced singing of Jennifer Lopez. Forget the hype of these two other singers, and invest your money in an album that really deserves the praise.

Free Music Review: This Kid's Alright!
Hit: 5 Stars

Aiming for the credibility he deserved but never received as NKOTB's lead singer, Jordan Knight arrives with his first solo album. If youre expecting sugary teen-pop again, you are way wrong. This album is top-notch r&b and Jordan has obviously used his hiatus well. What one almost immediately notices is that Jordan does not over-sing, instead using his voice to actually express the emotion in the song. The first two songs "Give it to You" and "A Different Party" are OK, but sound like they belong on someone else's album. Jordan's smooth voice is obviously better suited for the ballads which dominate this album. Producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis continue their long streak of quality music with the Boyz II Men-ish "Broken by You" and "Close My Eyes" (which samples "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas! ) The rest of the album, produced by Jordan and Robin Thicke (with an assist from ex Kid Donnie Wahlberg) contains beautifully written and sung tunes such as a somewhat bizarre ballad reconstruction of Prince's "I Could Never Take the PLace" and "Separate Ways" (which was co-written by ALAN THICKE (AKA Jason Seaver on "Growing Pains"). Obviously, Interscope made an unwise decision in marketing this to a teenybopper crowd as opposed to an audience more in tune with a Jon B or a Babyface. If you are looking for great songs sung by a surprisingly great voice, you will not be disappointed by this album.

Free Music Review: Every song is excellent. I can't stop listening to it!
Hit: 5 Stars

I thought I was just going to like a few songs on Jordan's album. But I was pleasantly surprised when I fell in love with every song. I can listen to each song over and over and over again (well, I do), and never get sick of it. Among my favorites are "Seperate Ways", "A Different Party", "Broken By You" (this song almost has me in tears)and "Finally Finding Out". They all sound to different, yet they are incredible. Props to Jam and Lewis. You guys are amazing. Also Robin Thicke and Donnie Wahlberg did excellent jobs producing. But Jordan, your voice is incredible. He sings with so much emotion and soul, I'd swear he was a brother if I had never seen him in a music video! I think it's an insult to rope Jordan's music in with the likes of Backstreet Boys and N'Sync. Yeah, those guys are cute and their songs are alright, but Jordan's cd is way out their league. His songs and voice are so much more mature and just simply better than them. I hope Jordan can out live this "teeny bopper" stigma that he has. He should be taken seriously as an artist and his cd should be on everyone's "Best of the Year" list. This is the one and only cd I own that I listen to every single track. I'm not a young teenage girl who is just captivated by Jordan's face. Yes, it's beautiful, but once you get past that, you will realize that this man is astonishing...

Free Music Review: A VERY GOOD CD!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have to admit, I had doubts because I bought Joey Macintyres CD and I liked only about two songs on it. I was dissappointed! Then Jordan's CD came out and I figured this CD has to be better then Joe's and Jordan Knight didn't let me down because this is one of my favorite CD's in my large collection. I always thought Jordan was the most talented out of NKOTB and his solo release proves it. "Give It To You" and "A Different Party" are the first two tracks and they are perfect for the dance floors. They'll keep you rocking and dancing! Then the album changes pace with R&Beeish type ballads that are so filled with emotion and shows off Jordan's Golden Voice. I like just about all the songs from "I Can Never Take the Place of Your Man", "Seperate Ways", "Close My Eyes", "Broken By You", "Give it to You", "A Different Party", "When You're Lonely". I only wish that his songs would make it to the radio & mtv airwaves more often because this cd really is a mature step up from albums by 'Nsync, Backstreet Boys, Ricky Martin, and 98 Degrees. I'm a 27 year old music fan that listens to many types of music and In my opinion, this album has the caliber to win grammies. This is definately my album of the year! I highly recommend it even to those that are not NKOTB fans.
