Free Music Notes for Jordin SparksFree Music Review: Jordin "sparks" flames of essence. Hit: 5 Stars
Jordin Sparks.
the album could have been produced better, by far. it mostly sounds like baby toy chimes and plain and simple: a rushed production. Well, for the most part. I cannot bear "Shy Boy" and i must sometimes skip past "Young and in Love". "Shy Boy" takes the cake at an extreme wannabe for todays hip hop TRL market. Having omitted that track, the album would have flowed with an actual theme: a young legit girl with something on her mind worth hearing from her precious vocals.
TATTOO. it annoyed me when i first heard it. it reaked of lack of production, from the beginning cut off intro to the lack of use of such a beautiful voice. But then the album came out, and i heard it with the rest of the songs. and it fits perfectly. now it made sense. a decent track.
ONE STEP AT A TIME. fabulous. adorable. motivating. gets u through today into tomorrow. great mini hooks, Jordin.
NO AIR. also, at first glance at the "chris brown" duet, i didn't even want to hear it. but i did. and jordin floods over Mr.Brown with soul. spirit. elegance. and harmony. one of the best tracks on the album.
FREEZE. the best track on the album. the most original. this is where the producers finally did something right. sampling a high pitched voice as the main riff, the track worked. risky, too, but it was a great risk that turned into the gold nugget in the album. Jordin sings to us from a heavenly state.
#6-#9. album fillers. they support the cute innocent girl theme. its the bubblegum in the album, and its cute. nothing bad about them. they're supported by cute hook, and outstanding vocals by ms. sparks.
SEE MY SIDE. very very subtle. simple. a whispered hymn of a prayer in the album. so subtle, i cant say it enough. she tones it down for this one. and it almost puts u into a relaxing sleep.
GOD LOVES UGLY. a track that would have only worked for Jordin. had britney or xtina tried such lyrics, their corrupt celebrity status would have mocked this attempt. Jordin carries virtue and class, with her religious faith as a sparkling touch, making this song mean something. making it a true prayer. parents, thank jordin for this addend on the album, as girls around the world can hear such a song in times of feeling "ugly".
THIS IS MY NOW. american idol again. when it aired on the finale, it was annoying, the cheap-o lyrics that were mushy and silly. most idols have their signature winning finale songs on the end of their debut albums. it usually makes u reject the whole album, cuz it takes u back to idol, which isnt what u want. this track, however, fits in with the theme, and if u were listening with ur heart, and not a critic's ear... you would see how it fits in with the cd, like an extra blanket on that cold winter night.
Jordin did what she could, and thats "to sing". the producers failed to support Jordin in finding her a unique sound that she could establish her voice with, a'la Fiona apple's sound, or Kelly's angry driven pop, or Criag David's acoustic guitar hip hop. but if u want to look at the bright side of this note, its that Jordin might not have matched her producer's work, but she sure as hell "surpassed" them and carried the album on voice alone. and that... is a very hard thing to accomplish, at 17, on a debut.
a wonderful album for all ages.
i personally thank Jordin, and maybe she'll read this and give me the chance to personally congratulate her.

Free Music Review: Modern Music Marvel : Jordin Hits it Out the Park Hit: 5 Stars
First of all, I cannot believe the zero star and one star reviews here. Has anyone really listened to the album? I don't think so. There is no way someone in their right minds, and someone who appreciates music as art could give this wonderful album a negative rating.
Let me be clear - this album, alongwith Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway", is the best thing to come out of the entire American Idol Franchise. As someone who owns the album on Itunes, I can say that it excels the Kelly album in patches, but unlike the Kelly album this DOES have some filler. However, as a whole, substantial piece of work, this is musically flawless.
Some have criticized that Jordin sings only about immature and boring things such as falling in love for the first time ("Young and in Love"), or unable to get over a lover ("Tattoo"). Well, first of all, shes only 18 years old and I can hardly expect to start putting out songs against global warming at that tender age. All her songs here are suited perfectly to her jazz-soaked voice, and yes, while they are typically hip-hop and R&B Oriented, there is nothing generic or 'usual' about this album at all.
I could go on about the music itself, but I will limit myself to the two best tracks. "No Air" and "Freeze". The former, "No Air" is a minor pop miracle. Tailormade for radio, you could listen to this ten years later and still be swayed - I think this will be the song that sells this album in the long run.
"Freeze" on the other hand, is by far the most stunning song on the entire CD. Why? First of all, it sounds like an early Moby track (with swoons and atmospheric effects awash). Imagine that same Moby track layered with some Deep Forest instrumentation, with a very late Gwen Stefani vibe to the whole thing. The haunting chorus, the clipped verse and chorus - everything just WORKS. Seriously, get the CD for this one song alone and you will not be disappointed.
I think too many people review this album based on the first single, "Tattoo" alone. Not fair. That track is possibly the worst thing on this album, relatively speaking. Every other song is memorable, and whats really interesting is that no song falls into any one genre.
Never really a fan of Jordan, this is easily a proud moment for everyone associated with American Idol - mighty hard to top this one for years to come.
Don't read the negative reviews - buy and judge for yourself!
Five Stars.
Free Music Review: Light and Easy! Listen while you work! Hit: 5 Stars
Well, it was December 17th. I remembers it well. It was a complete convalescence of events in one day. It was my work Christmas Party, it was a playoff game for my basketball team, and it was me and the wife's 24th wedding anniversary. How is an honest american to choose??? Well, after a couple of healthy shots at the Christmas Party, I decided to partake in my aforementioned Playoff Basketball Game.
I was havin' a monster night. I means to tell ya, the players on the other team didn't so much as look at me crooked, else they knew it'd be another one of those spinning hook shots. Bam! We were ahead by 15 points, the game was winding down, and I had once again beaten my inferior to the basket. As I stopped to jump, Snap! Pop! I collapsed to the floor in excruciating pain. Days later, I found out that my knee had pretty much imploded on itelf. It was swold up like a mellon, and I had torn several parts to my knee which all ended in the suffix "-CL".
So I had me some surgery, and now I have to go to physical therapy to learn how to walk again. The physical therapy office is a small, depressing little office on the 6th floor above a Chipotle. Whenever I go there, they have the light and easy radio station playing, which only deepens my depression about my knee and the hand I've been dealt, in general. I have always dislike radio stations whose mission statement is "to make your workday go by faster". The only bright spot is when the Jordin Sparks song, "I love you like a tattoo" comes on. She has a sweet voice that has obviously been digitally modified and auto-tuned to perfection. Once her tattoo song is over, its back to the doldrums of coldplay or david archuletta or Josh Grobans. I can't wait to hear what the rest of Jordin Sparks sounds like. did you know her dad played defensive back for the n.y. giants??? I kid you not, look it up!
Free Music Review: This Is Her Now! Hit: 5 Stars
What a fantastic CD for the most recent American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks. It's obvious that she has a great voice at the young age of 17 years old. She proved that all through the last season on American Idol and she now gets to prove it all over again on her own songs.
Her self titled debut has a great mix of pop and R&B. It even has a great duet with the prince of R&B; Chris Brown on the song "No Air". Such a great song. Very melodic and ready to be a radio hit. Jordin's first single: "Tattoo" is a good song that is climbing the billboard charts already. Almost all of the songs on this set seem that they were penned especially for radio. They all have such a great formula: songs that are not too serious (she is only 17), a great voice (but not too over done) and songs that have catchy hooks and beats to them. Something I was worried about while waiting for this CD to be released is that since she is a young female; that it would be bubble gum and have a bunch of out of place, sappy love songs on it - neither is the case! One of my favorites on this CD is: "Freeze" - this song has a great R&B beat along with great lyrics and amazing singing by Jordin. Another favorite is "Shy Boy" that reminds me of a song that was meant for Ciara - a lot of stuff going on in the background with a very catchy beat and melody. Her voice on this song is a bit robotic sounding and it works so well with the busy music. "Next To You" is a great midtempo song. "You And I In Love" - another great, fun, dance song. Also included on here is the astonishing song that won her the title: "This Is My Now".
Every song is a stand out to me and I know anyone who purchases this CD will be very pleased. Very age appropriate from a girl with a stellar career ahead of her.

Free Music Review: Jordin's music is my air Hit: 5 Stars
Jordin is an amazing artist. Her album is amazing! I love all the songs! I don't even need to comment on her voice, because we all know it's great. The best part is we know she actually can hit the notes she does on her cd live (unlike Avril Lavigne). This is a must buy album!
Tattoo(9/10)a nearly flawless song. I think she gives us a good idea of who she is and what her music is like with this song. Great way to kick off the cd.
One Step At a Time(10/10)I LOVE this song! So up beat and fun + it has a good message! It should be her next single.
No Air(100/10)Music at it's best! Her voice is amazing on this song! We all know that this is the song that truly made Jordin Sparks famous, and for a good reason too! It's perfect!!
Freeze(8/10)I like this song, but it dosen't compare with some of her other songs.
Now You Tell Me(9/10)better then Freeze. I really got hooked on Jordin after hearing this song a couple of times.
Next to You(10/10)Amazing! This could easily be a single too. Jordin's voice is really good in this song.
Just for the Record(8/10)about as good as Freeze. Maybe a little better.
Permanent Monday(10/10)Another wonderful song! I would love to see Jordin release this song as a single. This song is a lot like No Air. Her voice soars on this song!
Young and in Love(7/10)I like the tune of this song, but her voice isn't as good as it is in some of the other songs.
See My Side(6/10)Jordin's weakest track. The song is a lot better then a lot of other songs out there, but compared to the rest of Jordin's album this song lacks.
God Loves Ugly(9/10)This is a beautiful song! The messeage is great! A great way to end the album!
