Free Music Notes for Jordin SparksFree Music Review: Jordin beats Carrie! Hit: 5 Stars
Jordin and Carrie Underwood are my 2 all-time AI favorites. So being that they both came out with new CD's in the same month, I wanted to listen to every song and see what I thought. Both of them were excellent CD's, but I ended up adding 6 of Carries's songs to my "play often" folder, and 9 of Jordin's songs!
This CD has exceptionally catchy and exciting tunes. There is only 1 song that I didn't enjoy (Shy Boy). It seemed like it didn't fit with the others. Then there was 1 song that really, really surprised me (No Air). Not being a major fan of duets, Jordin's duet with Chris Brown blew me away. But like I said, I found 9 songs that I'm going to play over and over and over again, and mix them with other hot songs from other artists.
The bottom line is that Jordin's 1st CD is a hit with beautiful vocals and music arrangements, and is a great addition to any music lovers collection.
2ND DAY REPORT: I just listened for the 2nd day, and I must give some more commentary. These songs are vibrant and uplifting. I can't believe some of the other reviews that are less than 5 stars. Jordin gets to use her full vocal range, with excellent and varying styles of background music. Of course she's not going to be standing alone on a stage and belting out power ballads like she did on AI. That would only appeal to a small segment of music fans. This CD is enjoyable for everyone who likes pop and light R&B.
As far as my comparison to Carrie goes, I'm sure that hardcore country fans would compare things a little differently.
Free Music Review: Jordin sets the bar high on her eponymous debut album Hit: 5 Stars
Jordin Sparks' eponymous debut album is an incredible showcase of her versatility and top-notch vocals that ensure her a place at the top of the charts. Almost every one of the songs is a high-quality radio-friendly potential hit and it is truly a consistent album with very little filler. Jordin showcases her beautiful and powerful voice on tracks like "Permanent Monday" a rock-edged ballad, as well as "God Loves Ugly" and "Next To You" a throwback to Maria Carey's We Belong Together. However, Jordin's shining moment comes from "Now You Tell Me" which is certainly a standout on the album. Of course, there are also the more fun and upbeat tracks which could easily be hits such as her infectious duet with Chris Brown ("No Air") and the Britney-esque "Shy Boy" Jordin also shows off her songwriting skills on one of my personal favorites "Freeze" a mid-tempo but radio-friendly track. Jordin's first single "Tattoo" is definitely a keeper achieving the perfect balance of melodic and current similar to "One Step at a Time" which could do just as well as "Tattoo" on the charts. It is hard to find much to criticize, although I'm not much of a fan of "Young and In Love" which is a synthesized track that doesn't work nearly as well as "Freeze" or "Shy Boy" Jordin should be proud of her debut and I am confident that she can hold her own on the charts.
Free Music Review: A Great Album!! No Wonder She Won!! Hit: 5 Stars
This CD shows me why I wanted Jordin Sparks to win American Idol!! This is one of the best CDs I've ever heard!! The songs are so incredibly amazing, and they have great beats. They give me chills; that's just how great her album is, and how great her voice is.
MY FAVORITE SONGS INCLUDE:
1. One Step At A Time: A fun song that sends a very good message.
2. Freeze: A great and unusually different song with a stellar vocal performance.
3. Next To You: A great little love ballad that actually sent shivers up and down my spine.
The other songs are very good and catchy, but the latter songs are my personal favorites on the album!
All of the songs are very fun and great, and it's a really great album. If you love the pop genre, then this is a great album for you. It definitely won't disappoint.
Personally, however, I would buy the deluxe edition on iTunes, because the three bonus tracks are very good. My favorite of the bonus songs is probably Save Me, and it's because the background music is fun and kind of childish-like, and the lyrics start slow, and once the chorus comes along, it's really great, and the music gets faster and really fun. It's a fun song to dance to when you're by yourself.
Free Music Review: For all you young set Hit: 5 Stars
I have to admit I am in my late 40's and a die hard AI fan and always will be so I go compulsively buy all the winners and top ten CDs .. I rush with mad dash to go buy them all and only one so far I was disappointed in was Diana DeGarmo's, hers was a little bit too perky then, I saw here come to Dallas to do a brief stint in "Brooklyn" and she held her own against some power (Melba Moore) and a guy from the original Dreamgirls .. oops, back to Jordin but to say Jordin is too young to win is a way far understatement .. she deserved every accolade that comes her way, sure Melinda was older and perhaps had more chops but if you listen to some of the lyrics, you will notice yes, Jordin is younger but the lyrics speak from the heart because she is trying to make it and she will it won't be an overnight sensation like Carrie and Kelly and Daughtry but she will be make it .. and as the past people have said she sent goose bumps when she sang I Who Have Nothing and You Will Never Walk Alone, when she sang those older songs than her, just showed her abilities as a person trying and she showed her strength. Am sure Jordin has the ability to soar as long as she wants and won't let success go to her head, she will be kept in check by her loving family and friends
Free Music Review: A Breath of Fresh Air Hit: 5 Stars
From the very first time I saw Jordin Sparks on American Idol, she was my favorite of the season. She had such a great personality, fun and perky, and a voice that could soar to the heavens. When she won the title on the show, I could NOT have been more happy. Obviously, I was very much anticipating her new CD, and I bought it the first week. "Tattoo" is obviously a great song, and a good way to start off the CD. There are more than a few radio-friendly songs included on the disc and, my favorite BY FAR, is the second song called "One Step At A Time". The first time I heard it, I LOVED it, as it is SO much fun and SO CATCHY. Reading other reviews on this CD, some people have commented that there are NOT many ballads included that showcase her voice, such as her AMAZING rendition of "I (Who Have Nothing)" on American Idol. Sadly, this is true, but Jordin still manages to captivate you with the material on her debut. Granted, there are a few clunkers on here that I don't necessarily love, but for the most part, this is a fun, upbeat and solid CD. A MUST-BUY for anyone who enjoyed Jordin on American Idol. Also, this would be a GREAT GIFT for any kids on your list who enjoy fun and simple pop music.
