Free Music Notes for Feliciano!Free Music Review: Great vintage CD with a California flavor Hit: 5 StarsIt's hard to believe that this "album" came out 40 years ago. I suppose it does sound a bit "dated," but there is such a fresh feel to the arrangements. I didn't like Jose Feliciano's cover versions of these songs at the time they came out, but after hearing them over the years, I learned to love them. I finally bought the album in the 80's and it sounded great on a good stereo system versus the radio or a cheap stereo. Over the years, I have slowly replaced many of my albums to CD format. I waited a while on this one and now that I've played it a few times, I wish I'd gotten it sooner. Feliciano plays a "mean guitar" as one of my good friends said. Hearing his voice and arrangements take me back to a simpler time when California music was so comforting. As far as landmark value, it was one of the first Latino albums to make it big. I didn't think about that at the time. In the 60's we just liked good music regardless of race, culture or creed and this is good.
Free Music Review: Disappointing Hit: 2 StarsThe quality of the sound and the song arrangements sound dated to me, I'm afraid. I was looking forward to hearing them again after many years but was disappointed.
Free Music Review: Jose! Hit: 5 StarsI caught Jose at a classy nightclub in the mid-90s during some business travels in North Dakota, and I've been hooked ever since. I'd say that this is his best work, though it lack my favorite Jose track, "Lets find each other tonight." Great music to relax to with a special lady.
Free Music Review: Light my Fire the Latin way Hit: 5 Stars I was in my early teens when this album was release. I still remember the impact that it had on the Hispanic community when they heard the Doors song "Light my Fire" interpreted by Jose Feliciano with the Latin beat, it was unbelievable. Only Jose Feliciano could do it with his unique style. Today his appearance has not change, he still looks the same as he did in 1968, and he has not aged at all. This album is a good one to add to your Latin Rhythm and Blues collection. If you like his style check Gloria Estefan's CD "90 Millas" he is one of the special invited musicians, and as usual he sounds great!
Free Music Review: Feliciano at his Best!! Hit: 5 StarsI have this album on 33-1/3 as it was purchased when it first came out. I re-purchased it, recently, on CD so that his amazing talent can be enjoyed in my car. I'm sorry that he has not released anything recently for his appreciative American audience as he is the person who first introduced the me to the smooth Spanish stylings. Sergio Mendez & Brazil 66, Herb Alpert and others are also great, but Jose really set the pace.
