Free Music Review: Still great after all this time

I have seen the DVD version of this play with Donnie Osmond in the lead as JOSEPH, and while he did a good job, Michael Damian outshines his vocal performance by far. I think his voice fits this role quite well and I am still enjoying this version of the soundtrack, 12 years later. I received the cd as a Christmas gift in 1993, and I have almost wore it out because I enjoy it so much. Now, my 7 yr old son loves the music just as much as I do. I have added this wonderful musical on my IPOD player. Also, I think that Kellie Rabke, who portrays the NARRATOR, has a phenominal voice. I like her much better than the young lady who is in the DVD with Donnie Osmond. Even though I like to watch it better than listening to it, I find that the vocal performances of the cast do not reflect those of the cd. I would reccommend this cast album for anyone who has already seen or plans to see this play. I am finally going to see it live when it comes to my city in February 2006. What can I say, WOW! I was fortunate enough to see this play closing night in Los Angeles, in 1993. I am not big on biblical story telling. "Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," is one of few biblical stories I have seen on stage and have enjoyed. The best! Outstanding performances all around.Relive this story from begining to end, with the 1993 cast, featuring Michael Damian. The music is in cronilogical order. As like, "Joseph..." was presented on stage. Everytime I play this cast recording, I feel like I am watching the play all over agian. Not even movie soundtacks can give me that feeling.
If you know... have seen... or have read the story of "Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," the 1993 cast recording is a must have. Particularly, if you are a Michael Damian or "Young and the Restless" fan.
Free Music Review: The best Joesph CD out there!

I hesitated in buying this CD at first, for I was under the impression that the musical itself was too "religious"...but when I first saw the production several years ago, I rushed out to buy this album immediately. The score is simply amazing, and the production itself is packed with energy and humor. It does tell the biblical tale of Joseph and his eleven jealous brothers, but it's not the least bit religious or preachy. This is undoubtedly one of Andrew Lloyd Weber's finest musicals to date...possibly even my favorite. I have also had the opportunity to hear the many other Joseph CDs currently in circulation and I can honestly say that the 1993 L.A. CD is, without a doubt, the best there is. The highlight is, in my opinion, Kelli Rabke as the Narrator. Her voice is bright, lively, energetic, and simply superb. Buy this CD! It's worth every penny!Free Music Review: The 'STRONGEST' Link

I own four different versions of the Joseph CD, the London Cast, the Canadian Cast, the Amercian Cast, and the Original 1972 recording. I can say that without a doubt in my mind, this recording is by far the best. Kelli Rabke does an OUTSTANDING job as the narrator. Her voice is extremely powerful and she embraces the production with a sincerity that is not portrayed by the other narrators, particulary Maria Friedman from the Joseph Video. Janet Metz also does a very good job in the Canadian recording, but Kelli is head and shoulders above the rest!. She is definetly the STRONGEST link!With regards to the Joseph's, Michael Damian I find him to be a bit weak. He does a satisfactory job, but Donny Osmond is much better in that role. I feel a recording should be created with Kelli Rabke and Donny Osmond, that would most definetly be a show stopper!

i abosolutely love this CD, i know michael damian is a little weak on his end, but when you sing a long, and have a horrible voice, like me, he seems practically perfect. Kelli just blows you away though, if my voice somehow became like hers this would be the musical i would like to be in. It is my favourite Musical i have ever seen and i've seen plenty; Cats, Les miserables, Big river, Evita, Carousel, Pirates of penzanze(i know i cant spell) and more. I know this is aimed at kids, and that i may be considerd one of but this cd gets my whole family hopping. that is if i haven't been listeng to it all day and have been yelled at to listen to normal stuff that 15 year olds should listen to. Oops, sorry that i'm a fan of Andrew lloyd webber, mom.
